Now that the Escape has run it's course at the LAP, Ford has announced production of a new EV platform mid-size pickup to be built there. The frame is a one piece aluminum casting.

I wonder if this new truck is similar to the Maverick? Shared parts with the Maverick? It will be available in '27 and use the SK Blue oval batteries comprised of a Lithium Iron Phosphate chemistry.

Price per unit is projected at $30k. I see the windshield is swept back further than the Maverick for aerodynamics. That's all I've seen though.

I don't expect a Maverick EV or PIH will come to fruition. What are your thoughts?

It could be $20,000. I'd have zero interest in a EV.
Unless ☝The battery can be charged from 25% to 100% in less than 10 minutes ending with a range of 400 to 500 MI. (No supercharger involved) charge cost comparable to gas prices.
If the above marks can be met. $30k-40k would be a decent price.
Now you have my interest.
For me, an EV has to be as convenient, as what I already own. Otherwise what's the point?

Personal observations
You always hear from the EV Fanboys saying, 'When your EV is charging just have breakfast, lunch, dinner. Folks don't travel always during business hours. It can be 2:00 AM and you need a charge. Charging stations, like gas stations maybe open, but there may not be a restaurant to eat so you're sitting there for an hour or so waiting for your damn charge.

I call those BS distraction stories.
I can fill my gas tank 100% in 10 minutes.

I expect the same from an EV

Big savings on the last Escapes at my local Ford dealer...
2026 Territory and Edge should be offered instead

I've found myself going back and forth about replacing my 2022 Maverick (sold earlier this year) with another Maverick or grabbing one of the 2025 (or last model year 2026 but likely being made only until year end) Escape's.

Did you buy one and if so what?

It appears one can get a ST-Line Select Hybrid w/AWD and things like adaptive cruise in the 30-32K area and a fully decked out ST-Line Select Hybrid w/AWD and a panoramic moon roof and tech package #2 in the 35-36K area. Here's an example:

One of the things that bugs me is that adaptive cruise is only available on Lariat (for Maverick). I had a 2022 Maverick Lariat Lux w/CP 360 and that was one of the features I really liked (and miss).

There is a chance that the freed up PHEV hardware from the Escape PHEV will be made available for a PHEV Maverick. However, you won't find me holding my breath.

I have seen them with 5000 off and 1 dealer is advertising up to 8500 off for qualified buyers. That dealer though admitted to me in 2014 that no one can qualify for ALL of those discounts. For example they offer a 100 for recent college graduate and a 500 for college students. Can't get both but they are part of the extra 3500 discount.
The Edge ST is calling my name so hard!

I bought a 2019 Fiesta and there was an ST Line version and I found out that basically the ST Line was made to use up as many left over parts as possible on the last year of the Fiesta.
Sounds like the same deal on the Escape, so if an Escape interests you, the ST Line will give you more features at a good price.

Glen you said it perfectly. I feel the same way. My wife and I go to French Lick, Indiana, probably once a month to get away. Usually the only parking spaces available in the huge parking area are the ones with chargers on them (15). Never have seen anybody using them.

I wont believe it till its out. 30 K mid size truck EV ,,,, BS.

I will guess 150 mile stated range IF 30K They barely can make a small maverick for that price anymore. Heck even that Slate thing stripped will be 27.5K. if it come out.

I'm surprised FoMoCo doesn't adopt a universal engine system that can be used in nearly all their vehicles. That would make production a lot cheaper, as well as repair and parts replacement. You don't need to have 4-5 engines that all produce about the same HP and torque; just 1.

I've been waiting for YEARS for Ford to offer a hybrid in the Transit(not Connect) that they already had available in the F150, using the same 3.5l engine. It's shocking that this was never done. Some shade-tree enthusiasts have done project swaps and made it work, taking a lot of time and $, resulting in about 25-30% better mpg (going from 15 to 20).

Electric motors have much higher torque, at all rpm, than ICE motors. They are simpler, more durable, and require much less maintenance (I have an electric drill made in the 1950's that still works like new with zero maintenance or repairs ever). Ford could have one electric motor that would exceed the needs of F250 4x4 drivers as well as Mustang drivers, but also fit and work in the Mav, Expedition, Transit, Ranger, Bronco, etc. And if you must have gas for some reason, just add in an extended range gas powered generator to the system. For things like the GTD and Raptor, it would be a simple software change to provide more power (but drain the batteries faster).

ONE motor. Shared parts, optional software and other enhancements to tune it to the vehicle it's used in.

I nearly bought a lightning, but the cost was prohibitive. Then I considered a Nissan Leaf and at close to $32k, I didn't feel it was worth it. I bought a '24 Nissan Versa for $18k and it got 32mpg avg. I was finally able to park my '22 Superduty. The fuel savings would never be worthwhile for an $30k+ electric vehicle unless gas hits $4/gallon. Diesel was $4/gallon or more and my big truck gets 18mpg. The Versa paid for itself in savings.

Sadly, my knees had to be replaced and shifting the Versa was often painful so I traded for a Maverick. I'm happy with my Maverick Lariat hybrid AWD at 33+ mpg but it will have lots of miles on it by 2027/2028. I'm glad that I bought the 100,000 mile warranty for this truck. I would be fine with an $30k EV pickup to replace it then if I'm still working.

you missed that thing were dealers were liquidating Lightnings, people reported buying brand new ones for under $25k.
But, I'm a big cheapskate, and after looking at all kinds of vehicles, I bought the Mav hybrid base model. I'm fairly confident it's the best deal out there right now for what it offers and does.

Spoken like someone who has never even driven an EV let alone owned one. If you did you would already know that it doesn't take "an hour or so" to charge an EV before you move on to the next stop.

The rest of this is nonsense to because if you need to fill up with gas at 2AM the same restaurant will be closed.

Yes, but I'm in and out of said gas station in less than 10 minutes, usually about 7mins. with a full tank of gas and a 400+ mi range.
What will 7 minutes get you on a charge?
I only brought up a restaurant because that's the excuse that the EV Fanboys always use while they're waiting for their EV's to charge for 45-60 mins.

The only plugin's I owned were two Chevy volt's. The first one I drove from San Jose to Las Vegas never plugging it in once. As my daily driver I plugged it in every night.
I once went about 4 months without using gas. Except when engine went into maintenance mode and started all by itself.
