Hey everyone —
Just wanted to share a quick update from my 13,000-mile oil service on my 2025 Maverick EcoBoost (MPC engine).

I do about 60–70% highway driving on NY/CT roads, so I wasn’t expecting much when I popped open the air filter box…

But surprise — the engine air filter was filthy.
Way dirtier than I anticipated, especially for mostly highway miles. Definitely not something I would’ve thought needed attention this early.

So I went to my local Ford dealer to grab a replacement… and guess what?
They still don’t have the 2025 MFC engine listed correctly in their parts system. They were trying to pull older numbers from the previous engine.

Ford OEM Part Price: $43.04 (AIR FILTER only…)
Cash Price I Paid: $28.98 + tax
(Still no cabin filters in stock at this dealer)

OE/OEM Replacement Option: WIX Filters
Thanks to a tip from AMSOIL and a quick check with WIX, I ordered both from RockAuto:

Engine Air Filter: WIX WA11346 — $11.34

Cabin Air Filter: WIX WP10019XP — $14.89

Shipping: $7.99 (2-day delivery)

Going forward, I plan to replace both filters every 10K–15K miles, based on how bad that air filter looked.

One more issue solved — hope this helps another 2025 EcoBoost owner scratching their head at the dealership counter.

Interestingly enough the filth looks almost like carbon, like you see from an EGR passthrough, and not dust/dirt. It's also located smack between the reinforcements, with nearly nothing along the edges. - Just find the pattern curious, and maybe it's rubber or diesel soot coming off other vehicles.

Does the new engine by chance run any EGR or recirculation of some sort through the filter intake?

I posted earlier on another post, but I could not find these filters for my hybrid at 4 stores at a reasonable price. Got the Wix from Rock Auto as well. Always throw in wiper blades since you are already paying for shipping even if they are for another vehicle.

Hold it up to the light. If you can see through it, its still not dirty.

I need to do my cabin filter, I have just over 16k miles, all highway and very little city miles. Been using Wixfilters for a while from O'Reilly's.

Thanks for pointing this out. I’ll probably change my engine air filter at 50,000 or 75,000 miles, instead of waiting until 100,000 miles, like I normally do.

VERY interesting question. …
YES

JMC Garage is a Youtube hero. Literally the only channel I can find that even mentions the MPC nevermind goes into detail. Most car review channels are useless cup holder counters.

That is a wonderful video by a wonderful YouTuber. He shows the EGR feeding directly in the intake manifold downstream of air filter.

EGR output is pretty “clean” and can g directly back into engine without filtering.

The grimy air filter shown by the OP tells me the OEM filter is very effective & convinces me to avoid any “high flow” aftermarket filters. I’m going to stick with the OEM filter and inspect/change frequently:)

Yes — the WIX WP10019 and WP10019XP (the version with Febreze) will fit both the 2023 and 2025 EcoBoost 2.0 Mavericks for the cabin air filter.

However, the engine air filter is different between the model years:

2023 EcoBoost: WIX WA10981

2025 EcoBoost (MPC engine): WIX WA11346
