I find the Power Gauge useful to help me understand when my Maverick is charging vs. using power, but the slight change in the intensity of the engine icon at the top of the Power Gauge is not a very good indicator of whether the ICE is running or not. Maybe I am spoiled by the quiet running of my Lariat.
I don't know if Ford engineers monitor this forum, but if they do, I am asking for a software update that would make it obvious on the Power Gauge when the ICE is on or off. Some options would be to change the color, perhaps add an indicator within the icon, or simply only turn the icon on if the engine is running and off when not. If they do make the change it could be pushed out to hybrid owners.
Thoughts of other hybrid owners?

How about digital rpm, plus amps being generated, amps to hvb, amps to drive motor, and torquettes to drive gear🤗🤗🤗

I know what you mean even tho I have 2022 XLT.

Often I can not tell if engine is running or not. So I added my own gauges.

Engine RPM is a good one. We all know what 0 means.

Ford has done a very poor job at providing any useful status information on the hybrid system. I would have much appreciated something more like Toyota offers to know how and when the system is working and how to utilize it's potential.

With Mavericks miniscule 1.1 kwh battery, there is very little potential to utilize/exploit, compared to the larger by four times the Toyota Prius 4.5 kwh.
All I can think of is sitting behind some hypermiling yahoo at an intersection when the light turns green and they're watching their gauge trying to get up to speed just on their Maverick's battery power. 🥱🥱

I'm talking about the Power Gauge that can be configured on the left side of the instrument cluster. You can easily see how much you are charging or how much power you are consuming, but you don't know if it is electric power or gasoline power. My engine icon changes from white to brighter white when the engine turns on. Unless I watch it change, I can't reliably tell the difference.

I just switch my screen to the speedometer mode.

But now it bugs me that the number isn’t centered on the vanishing “speed lines”. It’s down and to the left of the vanishing point. Ford definitely doesn’t have any user interface designers on staff.

But on hybrid we would also have to have gas on or gas off to see what engine braking RPM was!

I turned on the MPG display and when the ICE is on it shows you the MPG in real time. When the ICE is off it goes blank indicating no gallons are being consumed. When it comes back on you will see the MPG average adjusts based on the calculations for the distance traveled. This is probably the best way to know if the ICE is on or off.

I think your referring to the Prius Prime or PHEV. All PHEV's will have much larger batteries than a regular hybrid. The Maverick's battery is actually slightly larger than the inititial lithium ion battery used in the regular hybrid Prius (2016-2022) which was .9 kwh.

Nope not the plugin prime
Toyota is really kind of secretive about the size of their traction drive batteries.
I'm talking about more current Prius and not the plugin prime.
Which recently got a larger battery.
There is now a 13.6 kWh lithium-ion traction battery that feeds the electric motor, a large increase from the 8.8 kWh pack in the previous-generation Prius Prime plug-in hybrid, although only 10.9 kWh is useable

It’s just a complete non-issue for me. I’ve adjusted my driving style lightly to get up to speed and then let off the throttle and then lean back into it gently.

If the HVB has a proper SoC the Mav will go all electric. If not, it stays in hybrid.

I just drive and enjoy it and the relative efficiency of it
