I didn't read through this whole thread so maybe this was answered already.

On my 23 Hybrid XLT when I plug my android phone in the screen goes to google maps The whole screen is just the map so on a 25 does this same thing happen which would mean the hvac controls would be gone. Or does the hvac stay on lower part of screen with google maps on too??

I see two camps here. Some say on screen hvac doesn't bother them BUT I can guarantee even if it doesn't bother you your eyes are off the road MORE ZERO doubt. It is less safe even if you are okay with that. You cant feel a screen button lol. I also have been when the sun is low I cant see the screen at all. Maybe younger people don't have that issue? I sure do. I glance at screen sometimes to see what radio station i am on. Last evening half the time driving into sun I couldn't see screen at ALL.
We all have different experiences, but most rides I never touch my temperature controls. I set it to 72 usually, winter or summer, and Auto setting keeps it there. I am not a person who fiddles with it all day. I just don't see the need.

I do not listen to radio or satellite, ever. I listen to Spotify which plays from my list of 1700 songs I actually like, with better sound quality than either. The 25 does have a large volume knob in case I ever need it. It also has steering wheel buttons for volume, and skip.

Best of all is the voice controls: Ford, Google, Alexa. There is no need to touch the HVAC controls, or navigation ever. And the 25 has mode buttons on the steering wheel which I am more likely to use vs. Way down by the side of my leg. That was a horrible place for the mode selector.

All in all there are probably over 50 improvements on the 2025's. Not sure why a touch screen has everyone's nuts in a knot. It's not like a Tesla where everything is by screen. There are plenty of knobs and buttons in a 25 Maverick. I always get a touch screen monitor on my PC, because some things are just easier to touch. And yes, I use a smart phone.

Buy hey no one ever forced you to switch from your flip phone either.

As long as we all have the one we like, who cares? After selling my 23 XL FWD hybrid for $25,800 with 28K miles, it only cost me $4,100 to upgrade to a 25 AWD 4K tow with all of the upgrades ($29,900). A pretty amazing deal.

Sync 4 is a game changer, and the upgraded gearing, axles and transmission are a huge bonus. Being able to configure the gauges to show what I want is nice.

Some people prefer the old tech, like the 83 Ranger. Crank windows and AM radio. To each his own. Buy what you like and enjoy it. I wanted Eruption Green on my 23, but Ford didn't offer it. Certainly made picking a 25 much easier. But after owning it a couple months, I really appreciate the 25 so much more.

There is a REASON to complain. To get Ford to ad knobs like they did on the latest Ranger. I adjust fan speed all the time. I don't use auto nor would i ever. HVAC on my xlt 23 can not be controlled via voice. I guess your can?

I would also hate to lose the keypad for the doors I use it all the time as a kayaker. Keys go into dry box. I often go back for something with no keys . (YES I know it can be added but some BS battery powered thing that gets taped onto truck.)

With the added price ford raised the Mav they made it worse in my opinion. I still hate that front end.

Good thing you bought a 23 huh? I sold my 23 to get a 25, and couldn't be happier. Glad your 23 works for you.

Too bad you need to have a '25 to send a voice recording feedback message to Ford through the Sync4 system, maybe we can do a loan a truck program so people can record nastygrams about knobs and buttons direct to the Ford mothership! :)

The HVAC controls are ALWAYS visible and ALWAYS in the same place. The larger screen allows it. And the larger screen allows the controls to be large enough so it's easy to touch the right spot. And that's why we say it's so easy to adapt to.

I was recently in a new 2025 when sun was low I could NOT see screen so BS on easier. Its just not as good as old one. Hence they added knobs on latest Ranger.

If YOU like it fine . I myself hate screen controls When sun is low and sun glasses on I cant see the darn screen.

Adjusting my AM radio tuner knob on my old 68 Chevy pickup truck was a real distraction especially where I grew up in rural America - humans will adapt, this 2025 Maverick is not an unsafe vehicle no matter the technology at the end of the day it’s who’s behind the wheel that matters…

's'true ... my first car the stereo was way down and under, almost drove off the road a couple of times as a n00b just trying to change tape or station.

I can’t argue with you because i don’t see through your eyes. I was mainly answering the question of whether the climate controls are ever hidden behind another screen. That’s what I mean when I say they are always visible. You NEVER have to navigate through a menu Because they are always at the same location at the bottom of the screen. I guess each human has unique variations in their vision. So what one person sees clearly is often not clear to another. Although I have zero problems seeing this screen, I have rented vehicles where I had to strain to see the screen in the afternoon sun. But others had no problem. Anyway , I hope you don’t think I was disputing YOUR experience . Again, I was mainly speaking of the presence and position of the controls and their easy access for me.

First thing the drivers ED teacher taught us was how to tune the radio without looking.
It was only half about looking, it was half about folding double and barely seeing over the top of the dash when you could reach it.... not because I'm short, because I have to have most seats racked right back so there's knee clearance.

Most manufacturers are losing physical buttons. It's the way the industry is going like it or not. They got rid of starter buttons/pedals and Dimmer switches on the floor too. I'm sure the complaints stopped after a few years. For those who hate change, the old vehicles will always be available. I still have a big block 4 speed car with manual windows and a dimmer switch on the floor. But love my 25 Maverick as a daily driver.
