In Michigan, where it's just now getting above 40 degrees, I'm getting about 33 city and 28 highway. I am not driving in eco mode and trying to squeak every MPG out of it though. Most say that city MPG should be closer to 40mpg when the weather stays above 60F.

So refreshing to see someone who understands how the eCVT and planetary gear system works! Drive ratios are somewhat meaningless with the Maverick Hybrid's eCVT.

I'd like to know what Ford really did to "beef up" the transmission for 2025 - I work in a facility that makes planetary gear boxes, and it's interesting to think about what changes they made to ensure the truck is 4K-tow capable, but I haven't seen any specifics yet.

this subject would really interest me as about 6 weeks ago I traded my β€˜23 xl hybrid for a β€˜25 due to weak cv / axle assembly , left front inner cv went south at 40k miles & again at 60k miles

I drove 3858 miles from the San Francisco area to Central Texas and round trip averaged 39.9mpg. Would have gotten over 40mpg but has a long stretch of headwinds in New Mexico that I only averaged 32mpg. If I can beat the EPA rating on the highway I am a happy camper.
One thing I must point out. Since getting this truck which is my first hybrid I am now addicted to maximizing the mpg by using the tools provided in my dash. It drives my wife crazy. I almost never drive over 65 and that's even when the speed limit is 75. If I keep it under 65 I am almost always pleased with the result. Anyone else get this addiction?

I have since shortly after getting mine in June 2022...

My partner fucking hates it.

My best tank was mid 1200kms, though

That is almost exactly what I was getting the 1st 1500 miles 2025 awd hybrid 33 city 30 highway I was pretty disappointed I thought something was wrong with mine.

After 1500 miles it opened up, I do far more highway than city driving & my combined is showing 41.7mpg now. City driving (flatter areas) under 50 mph is wild now, trip mileage has shown 58mpg a # of times when I watched the mileage trainer, braked gradually enough to recover 100% to regen braking, found the optimal downhill speeds for the slope to be electric or regen braking, etc

I am getting better mpg than my 23 FWD hybrid did. The 23 was only rated 40 city, just like my 25 AWD. Current tank is sitting about 41 mpg, in mostly less than ideal short trips. When I get to work, or home from work it's finally above 40 mpg. Those cold start warm ups burn gas, and my commute is about 4 miles. Currently about 41mpg on this tank. Have 230 miles left at 37%.

Larger motors, better gearing, stronger half shafts.

One winter and one summer, mostly highway miles with about 5000 miles towing. Hybrid with 4k towing.

By comparison, my FWD '22 that I traded in. Same amount of towing, but all around 2000 pounds or less.

You have nudged my interest , in May I traded my β€˜23 hybrid for a β€˜25 after having second inner cv ( left side ) failure , at my next oil change I will measure outside diameter of cv and compare to old , these Hyundai made parts are not weak , just under sized

You will find no difference between the outside diameter of the old CV axle and the new CV axles as that is not what was improved upon, nor was it causing the widespread premature failure.

The new CV axle part for all hybrids (22-25) is longer, that is all we know at the moment really.

Still on my first dealer tank and not trying to drive economically so as to run in the IC. Trip counters started at 32mpg in the first couple hundred, now showing 37.5mpg with nearly 500 miles on this tank. This is hybrid AWD with 4k tow. I have seen 60mpg on some trips greater than 10 miles on the this trip display.

Anyhoo, looks very promising for if I was "trying". Weirdly I had it in sport mode when I had to do this ravine route, down to a creek crossing and back up again, all twisty and lumpy. That was a short jaunt really of only 7 miles with 55mph top speeds but it did 45mpg doing that, and I was driving the twisties "enthusiastically".

Got about 100 miles left in the tank, this next fill though is gonna tell me SFA since I don't know how full they filled it, basically saw the pointer drop off the top right away so don't think it was completely full to first click. So it will be my first index fill.... then next time might get a "real world" number.

On my PHEV though, same drivetrain and electronics, the trip counters seem to be inside a percent or so, which is also within fill error so pretty accurate. "This trip" is a bit optimistic I guess but not sure by how much. Don't really have any long hauls planned where more than half a tank used where it would be possible to double check it.
