After 3 years and 50K miles I want to just say this vehicle has the worst paint of any vehicle I have ever owned (Alto Blue). Literally every time I go to wash it I notice a new paint chip. The only thing that has prevented me from trading it in on a Bronco is that that they probably use the same paint.

I have PPF on the front end factory installed, but the front windshield pillars, top of windshield and any other surface seem to take a beating. I hand wax it 2x yearly. Like I said it just seems bad compared to the many other vehicles I have owned in my 61 years.

It's a Ford thing, my family has various models same issue, all the models since Covis. The bean counters put extra 💧 water in the kool-aid. Thats why we have so many recalls and issues.

But I still love my Maverick Tremor, chips and scratches, scrapes and all.

Booyah 👊🏽 😁 👍🏽 🇺🇸.

A couple MTC members have done some amazing 👏🏽 paint jobs to not have to deal with the thinnest paint ever.

Sorry to hear you've had problems, my MY22 Alto Blue is parked outside year round and driven daily, not a chip on it anywhere, paint still looks great. It's had 1 wax job in it's life. Maybe its environmental or road conditions?

Definitely the road,

Heck I'm super slow a cautious ⚠ off road. But I want to keep it inside a garage. Heck if it get 30% worse I'm painting it Leadfoot Gray. But the right way and with heavy amounts of Primer, paint and clear.

I have never had it off road am really careful not to follow anyone close. I am retired so I am not doing any bumper to bumper driving. So many of the dings seem to be just pin head sized. Any time I hear any sort of minor road debris hit I know I have another ding. I have read that today's paints are not as durable as in the past. Don't get me wrong, other than the paint it is a great vehicle. I know it is not a museum piece, but I am sort of perfectionist when it comes to keeping my vehicle in good shape and paint dings and rust on vehicles bother me.

Yeah, rock chips happen. I think I might have 2-3 in total, but I sure don't have your mileage on mine. I've had them on every car I've owned, but it sure does feel worse when the vehicle is so new. It's possible you just got a really shotty paint job, there are variances from vehicle to vehicle for thickness.

I bought a cheap truck so I wouldn’t care about that stuff. I haven’t even looked for chips — it doesn’t matter to me.

Thinner, water based paint……🤨. get touch up paint and practice some. You’ll get better at using it after some you tube videos. If you mess up it’ll wipe off if it it’s not dry yet. From 5 feet you won’t be able to see those tiny spots and you will have learned a new skill.

Ours has been fine after 3 years. I wax it once a year with paste wax though. Have you waxed yours?

My 2022 has not had any issues, but I do keep my coated. I know you mentioned that you wax it twice a year, but I would check the product you are using. If you actually mean a wax (carnauba) it will not last 6 months, especially on a daily driver. Traditional carnauba waxes only last around 3-4 weeks at most. If you are using a hybrid product that is more of a sealant, these tend to last 3-4 months. Add in another application process to your yearly routine and that could help.

Other than that, the paint on my Maverick has not shown any difference from my past Fords and has held up well well over the past few years.
