Here is my latest and hopefully final step in making it quick, easy, and comfortable to camp in my Maverick. This is a used, smaller, folding roof top tent from Facebook Marketplace. I got a pretty good deal on it because the soft cover was a little damaged and there was a little mold. For how I am using it, I do not really need the cover anyway.

This tent is/was probably a little too wide, by about 1/4". It is tricky getting it around the striker rods for the tailgate when folding and unfolding it. Luckily the ladder is so long that it makes a good third hand, holding the tent partially open, as you make sure it is not catching on the tailgate parts or the tonneau cover mounting hardware.

Even though the soft cover was a little damaged, It would have still kept some dust out. It was just too difficult to pull it over the tent with so little room between the tent and the bed sides. I took the cover off. I'm probably going to find some sort of tailgate seal kit to help keep the dust out.

There is about a 6" gap under the tent. I'm going to build a big pull out drawer out of 2x6s and plywood to go under it.

I am not entirely sure what model this tent is. When I asked the seller about the model name for the purpose of confirming dimensions, he said this specific model is discontinued.

Nice set up!
Thule has the Tepui Approach - Small that should also fit (48.4" wide) but they're $2900 new here in Canada and I just don't camp often enough to spend that kinda cash.

Very nice! Home away from Home. Good way to travel through the South, Motel 6 and some nights surrounded by Nature! Gets me thinking.

Yes, It has been very hard to find something easy and comfortable and not a trailer or too expensive. This Tremor gets me to nice quiet places away from everybody :)

Now that looks like a sweet setup. I'll have to look at these a little closer. Just curious, is it anchored to your truck at all ?

Wow! That’s a nice setup.
Perfect for escaping the wrath of an estranged and enraged wife or girlfriend.
Or both, as the case may be.
…just sayin’.
Hypothetically of course.

:sneaky:

Seriously, Dude. That’s a nice rig and $300 is Balls Out, man.
Congrats.

Yes but just straps. I had planned on bolting the front mounting rail through the holes in the wheel well but because of the fact that it is almost too wide to fit between the tailgate pins, I have to be able to wiggle it a little. The metal frame fits between the pins with about 1/4" to spare, but there needs to be a little bit of wiggle room to get the part where the canvas is connect to the floor around the pins. There are two straps hiding under the front of the tent, and are connected and tight at all times, while the tent is set up or not. The other two straps you can see on top, hold the two halves smashed together/closed and hold the back of the tent down on the bed, while driving. When setting up, I put the tailgate in the 4x8 plywood position to hold the back of the tent up, The ladder needs to be practically fully retracted once it is set up, and there does not seem to be an easy way to have the ladder hold up that end, like the tent was designed.
