Residue left behind from a failed cell phone mount. Knowing how fragile the dash can be, I'm hesitant to try Goo Off or similar. Grateful for any suggestions or learned lessons. Thanks.

Little bit of duct tape should cover that up nicely

Nah, but if it were my vehicle, first thing I would try is a bit of vegetable oil and gently rubbing, one corner to see if it's gonna do anything... then dish soap and water to clean up the oil.

I have no experience with dash but be carefully. Not sure which you are considering to "nullify" the glue but goof off and goo gone are two different things.

Try Aero 303 protectant. If it does not come off at least your dashboard will be protected from the sun. One of the best ones out there.

A little rubbing alcohol might be worth a try. It should help remove the glue without harming the service.

My truck came with some residue on the dash and I did not notice it for a while. I tried a bunch of stuff and nothing worked great. Eventually just slow and careful rubbing with a microfiber and a household spray cleaner got most of it off. The friction with some kind of lubrication to keep from damaging the surface was the key.

The dealer was no help- big surprise.

I would definitely try this. I have a 2 gal jug of 70% rubbing alcohol that's my go-to for any mechanical work I do on bikes and cars. If it does take goof-off, you then clean it afterwards with rubbing alcohol, which is what I do to remove windshield decal residue.

Simplest thing to try first which you probably already have - duct tape. Its adhesive will pull off a lot of different types of other adhesive residue that are left behind. And you can use a small piece to do a little bit at a time. I've had great results with it if the residue is still soft and has not yet dried out and hardened.

Otherwise, I've used the mildest flavor of Goo Gone a lot, even on more delicate surfaces with no issues. I've removed sticker residue from shiny cardboard with it. Love the stuff.

Buy a dashpad to protect from getting scratches. Find another way to mount your phone. There are many options on phone mounts.

My "go to" for most stuff is Krud Kutter. I've never seen any damage to surfaces from using it. Oddly, I don't see it for sale in Home Depot anymore...

Home Depot still sells it. It appears to be online only. Free delivery to your store.
