Hey guys! If you don't need update done at the moment, I advise you to wait. I attempted the update last week on a customer's vehicle, and it wiped out his air condition control module which is a part of the compressor. I could not recover the module. My field service engineer advised me to replace the compressor thinking that I may have had it one of a kind problem with my scan tool . I tried to contact the module programming division on Thursday, they said they had high volume. And they would call me later.. I went ahead and installed a new compressor on Friday. When I attempted to perform the module installation, it seemed to have wiped it out as well. They still had not contacted me today. So I reached out to them again, and they told me that engineering is investigating the concern because it has happened to a few other vehicles. But they don't have a solution yet. So I have a customer's vehicle in my stall with no AC and no fix. . And I have an angry customer who brought his vehicle in with no problem other than an occasional battery drain. Now he does not have his vehicle because the control module on the compressor will not accept a program and will not properly communicate after I attempt to get programmer. Again, wait if you can

Thanks for the word to the wise, Darryl.

Quite the sticky wicket and I hope you (collective you), can get the person's truck back to them...and Ford can sort out their end as well.

Cheers, and thanks for your membership/contributions here at MTC!

Gee, I certainly can wait. I am out of 0/36, have ext 7/125, just have to put noco g5 on my 34th mo 390CCA 12v 0/36 replaced with 470CCA MAX 12v about every 6-8 week (for 4-6 days) while unlocking/locking truck once a day starting on day 3 (maybe helps BMS see 12v at 100% multiple days in row if battery learn actually happens). My remote driveway tech switched to it because he got paid by hour and was tired of having something waiting in his stall that couldn't be fixed. Only once was he apologetic for being 1.25 hour late but still in his 2 hour arrival window because he had to jump a dead Maverick on the way.
I do not have EXT warranty on my 22 "backup" XLT maverick buy may add it before 0/36 expires 10/9/25. It only has 4300 miles so sees noco g5 often. Has OEM 390 CCA 12v and if sits long enough to get to 12.0v or less in garage a 20-30 mile drive will charge battery to 12.6v (next day reading at jump pins with hood left open so can check battery without unlocking and disturbing battery). I suspect the multiple "see the 12v 100% charged" may help the program work but "Who Knows!".

One thing I have noticed, is when you turn off the truck, there is battery drain for a while.
I even turned my setting for head light off delay to 0 seconds, to preserve battery.

where is that electric current going?
Maybe the flux capacitor?

just checked my current data.
The truck was drawing 11 amps for 30 seconds, then 4.5 amps for 15 minutes then 2.5 amp for a half hour then dropped to 1.3 amps before going up and down a bit before it dropped to .02 amps.

And nothing was on.
no wonder why theses batteries are going dead.
After my 15 minute drive home the truck was still charging the battery at 4 amps at 14.6v
A dozen Ford assist jumps and two tows for dead battery (deep sleep). Sanders Ford got
a software/module fix from Ford. Hopefully that puts an end to dead battery deep sleep issues.

Please keep us updated.

Did they test battery after a recharge?
Did you get a new battery?

yes. The second time got a new battery. The third time (yesterday)they got a software fix and they executed it. This is over a 9 month period. We will see if it gets it done.

Sounds like the flash went with out problems?.
If you would read some of my posts about this issue, I noted that this 23 Mav hybrid XLT is a new to me truck, and after owning it for 4 months this was the first time it alerted me that it was going into sleep mode.
I have been watching voltage and current for 4 months, and never noticed the battery drain until the day I had been notified.
The wild card that day was the cooling fan was on and shutter was open when I got ready to park, ( that was not something normal).
Fan normally is off and shutter is closed when I get ready to park, (I had to open the garage door before I pulled inside).

I am still on my original battery, but I adjusted some parameters with forscan for the battery.
I don’t think the battery is at 100% usefulness.
and it’s too small to power the electronics when you turn off the key.

It is my uneducated thought that auto manufacturers need to adapt to the higher battery-load times that we are experiencing.

12 volt systems are not able to sustain all these loads, parasitic or otherwise.

Do we have any 6 volt automotive systems out there? I dont think so.

So Ford needs to move to a 24 volt system to just get by with the vehicles we have, or...

Better yet, go to a 40 or 48 volt architecture, and be better prepared for everything that is coming in the near future technology-wise.

It is possible thst much more informed thoughts are out there, so I look forward to hearing about if this is feasible and is the right direction?

Cheers,

Andy

Bought AGM replacement battery for 2022 Hybrid Maverick. Still was getting Deep Sleep messages with new AGM battery after a few months. Ford mobile came out and did the rear camera recall. I mentioned the issues with having to charge the 12v battery and SSM 83501 was applied. ACCM module was bricked by SSM. Malfunction Indicator Lamp is Illuminated solid. Code: U010F:00-AF Lost Communication With Air Conditioning Control Module Configuration Error. Dealership says $1700 to replace A/C compressor. Truck has 43,000 miles. Called Ford Customer Service. Case is escalated.

Well that just sucks, I think since they did the software flash, they should cover the cost of the AC module they bricked.

I know my 23 maverick hybrid XLT is still under warranty, I think I will wait until I see some positive results of the update besides bricking the AC Module.

Well, another case for the post at the top of this page - wait on the ACCM update.

https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/forum/threads/wait-on-hybrid-battery-drain-update.68007/

Though your case is not the 24MY.
Dealership should be able to discover known issue at this point.

But I think a good warning too - you weren't experiencing an intermittent battery drain killing the battery in a day or two. So parasitic drain that could have been the ACCM really wasn't the issue.
Just the normal issue so many have.

So for others - don't convince them to do the upgrade if not having the issue it addresses.

Ford called back. No assistance will be provided. Seems like it is a hybrid unique component and a part of the powertrain, but they insist that it is not covered under warranty.

That makes zero sense. If it's a "Hybrid Unique Component" wouldn't it be covered under the 8-year/100,000-mile warranty on the hybrid components? Plus if the ACCM was working before the SSM 83501 was applied it should be working after. Clearly they're still trying to figure out whats causing the brick and as stated from one of the Ford techs on this post, replacing the ACCM isn't the solution. Once they figure out the cause, you should get updated and hopefully it fixes your problem. Please keep us updated!
