Ahhh Saturn, the plastic car 🤣.

the Maverick doesn’t look bad. A good shop will have you in and out in like 2 weeks.

That, rear bumper and repair tailgate should do it. Does not look like structure rail took hit as bumper is otherwise straight. Even the tail light looks unscathed. Still probably a $5k repair.
Labor is going to be the big one.
Who knows what they'll find once they get into it but I'm saying closer to $10,000.
Initial insurance adjuster assessment is in. We'll see what the collision shop says next Wednesday 😄

Based on recent experience with my wife's Escape with much less damage, that looks unrealistically low. Best of luck getting this resolved and your Maverick back on the toad

Well that blew my estimate out of the ballpark.
"Waterrick" got a hell of a lot closer.

Although I don't like the fact that they aren't going to replace that driver side panel. I didn't see a price for a replacement panel.
So is it going to be pulled out and massaged back to shape?
It's a new truck I think I would want a new panel on there.

There's no way in hell they're making it like new the way it's crumpled and bent. I'd bet my hat that panel gets replaced.

They tried to see if I'd take the payout instead of a repair as well and setup the rental as a sedan instead of a comparable vehicle.

I'd say the games are afoot.

It's Progressive handling the claim btw.

I talked to the collision guy this morning, he said there was no chance in hell of them fixing that rear side panel. So it's very likely it's getting replaced regardless of what Progressive wishes. The Tuffskinz MAVERICK lettering needs taken off the tailgate and the pneumatic tailgate strut was also damaged, so both of those might also need replaced.

Oh, and they denied covering a comparable vehicle to the Mav for the rental and gave me a Chevy Malibu.

I'm glad the collision center stepped up.
If you don't mind, please keep us updated thank you.

Are they replacing the panel?
Apparently, Progressive is making them attempt repair first before they can order the panel. I feel like making me whole would be to replace the panel and not repair it, as it will likely not have the same integrity as before and I can't imagine it's trivial to hammer that back into the shape it came from the factory.

What I find interesting is that this is essentially cheap advertising for Progressive... I am required to interact with them and they have a ton of my personal information now. This is essentially a captive audience for them to advertise to, so the better they treat the people coming to them this way, the more likely those people would be to recommend Progressive or use Progressive in the future. Cheaping out on repairs is basically throwing away a marketing opportunity that most companies could only dream about... a few thousand dollars for heaps of personal info and a captive audience.

The shop updated the damage assessment and the estimate is now over $5,000 as of today. I found this out because Progressive called to tell me that it's my problem now because their client has only state minimum liability of $5,000 for property damage.

As long as you're carrying uninsured/under insured coverage your insurance company will pay out the remainder and sue the other insurance company and/or vehicle owner to try to recoup the difference.

Wow, $5,000 is nothing nowadays.
I guess it meets the qualification of "Having Insurance"
