Pretty much tracks with the experiences of those who have towed with their 4K Hybrid so far, and similar to those who pushed their FWD Hybrid towing previously.

Just like the Ike Gauntlet they did - the hybrid isn't meant to be fuel efficient when towing. If towing 4K every single day you should be in a full size truck most likely.

Great points, if you are towing regularly the Maverick isn't the best fit. 14mpg on a 14 gallon usable fuel tank is going to make for some pretty short range.

Generally if you’re towing a load (4K lbs) routinely then you’re going to want to be in a truck rated for twice that weight.

Simple if you tow every day you don't buy a Maverick. If you tow a boat or travel trailer on the weekends then the Mav is perfect.

I only plan on using the Mav to move trailers around on my property. So no real "towing" for my purposes. I have the HD truck for the heavy labor. I just think people who don't tow are shocked to see MPG's fall so hard. It's kinda funny, but I remember the first time I towed and was blown away by how bad fuel economy was... Ah, those were the days... ROFL Oh, and then the days of learning about how to load a trailer so that the trailer isn't wagging the dog or crushing the tongue weight...

I saw a 2008 +/- Honda Civic on the freeway today with a 2" hitch receiver and 4-way wire harness so it's being used for more than bikes or a wheelchair.

Just sayin' ANYTHING on the road just about can tow 2k.

Anything will work, till something happens then maybe it suddenly doesn't...

If anyone is reading this and is wanting to learn about towing or has questions...ASK!

Or, take a look at a couple of my towing threads and many other informational threads...before beginning or even before buying a hitch.

And ask questions if needed. Most of us don't mind.

I really like the TFL Truck channel.
They were open minded and re-did the mileage test after feedback from their first run at it, they have been very good at pointing out pros and cons of lots of different vehicles, and overall they are fairly enjoyable to watch.

This is another well-done video that highlights the fact that the Maverick can tow 4k fairly well, but it comes at a downside which is a bigger hit to fuel economy compared to a larger truck.

Full size trucks are going to have similar economy pulling 4K load or more.

My Grandpa and I built a 2" receiver hitch for a Ford Festiva once, towed a 750cc Polaris Waverunner, got 32mpg at 60mph with that setup.

Then sold the waverunner and got a 1997 Polaris Scrambler 500cc 4x4, it weighed about 750lbs without trailer and gear, so probably close to 1000lbs behind a 1600lb car that had 55HP, it got about 24mpg with that set up at 70mph in 3rd, didn't have enough power to shifter to a higher gear.

Looking back, man I was definitely young and dumb!
