I bought one of those but just to use as a rear fog light. Other than that, IMO the hitch is a little low to put a light unless the approaching driver is fairly far away, which at that point it's a little dim.

They work as intended because a 4-way doesn't have a wire specifically for brake lights. It has left turn/brake, right turn/brake, tail, and ground.

If you're willing to go through all that work to have a brake-only light in the hitch, I suggest just adding auxiliary brake/turn lights on the rear cab corners. I had a headache rack on my F-250 that I installed 6" oval LED stop/tail/turn lights on. I got a couple of comments on how it was great in traffic because people could see the brake lights and turn signals above all the cars.
The Opt7 connector will connect easily, no tools, no wire cutting. Just plug and play.

OPT7 Harness looks like what the F150 harness Dmat used that now has the correct pin wiring for the Maverick:

I'd wondered if the OPT7 harness had diodes in it like some F150 owners had to add to try not disable BLIS features, but doesn't look like it does:

The Curt 56577 Powered Trailer Adapter looks to use MOSFETs to drive the Lights w/o loading down the BCM tailight outputs.
Probably Curt's circuit is something like:

I see the instructions noted it’s not for the 2025 with the technology package, 2.5L Hybrid or the Co-Pilot 360 I just emailed OPT7 so I still don’t have a solution to add a tailgate light bar
So before when I tried to plug into the hitch, it detected a “trailer” and switched off all my sensors. With Opt 7 on my 2025 Ford Maverick, it connects directly to the taillights so I can’t see how it would impact anything more, it’s also $29.

Great information and makes sense to me being the trailer plug would communicate to the Maverick telling it that a trailer was detected - I guess my question to OPT 7 is if the harness that states is for years 2022 - 2024 has it been tested on a 2025 Lariat AWD Hybrid by them - what model is your 2025 and what packages does it have - thanks for all the info

2025 XL with technology package. When Opt7 is used with the Nilight, it does not impact any of the other technology, sensors, etc. The hitch plugin sensed a trailer and kept alerting that it was turning off blind spot and rear sensors.

For my ‘25 Maverick Hybrid AWD Lariat I made my own from a high mount brake light added to my step bumper and plugged it into the 4-way trailer connector. It works great. Even though there is no trailer connected, the system assumes there is and defeats almost all safety systems that I still want to use making driving less safe.
How do I defeat the automatic sensing to realize the enhanced safety of additional brake and turn signal lighting?

You have to add an independent trailer wiring hookup, so the OEM socket is not involved.

Unfortunately I’m still looking for a solution after getting some feedback from OPT7

Hello Dave,
Thank you for contacting OPT7 Lighting.
OPT7 Redline Tailgate LED Bar will not work on the 2025 Maverick. We're happy to assist with anything else you might need.
Best Regards,
OPT7 Escalation Manager

I am using the Opt7 on my 2025 Ford Maverick XL. It connects direct to the lighting and the Nilight strip and it works perfectly. Because it’s direct to the lights and not connected to the hitch, it does not alter any of the safety features. When you connect direct to the trailer hitch connection, it disables all of the safety sensors because it “senses” a trailer is attached.
