Does it pass emissions testing? I would think Hyundai would have to fix it.We currently drive 2 Hyundais (Hyundaii?). Our '16 Sonata (75k miles) was purchased with a CPO warranty. It has been experiencing a well-documented oil consumption issue. It was bad enough that it caused a fouling of spark plugs, which we had to replace at our own expense (not covered by warranty).
While the oil consumption continues, Hyundai has refused to service it under the CPO warranty, saying it's normal to use a quart of oil every 1000 miles.
So, yeah... no more Hyundais for us. Can't wait for the Mav to arrive.
I was following a Santa Cruz the other day and noticed it was puffing smoke everytime they accelerated from the stop light which really surprised meDoes it pass emissions testing? I would think Hyundai would have to fix it.
Had just about the same issue with a (2007 I believe?) Toyota RAV4 4cyl, took it to a Toyota expert mechanic locally who works on classic Toyota cars and he let us know that it was a known/common issue with that specific engine just guzzling oil. Freaked me out to have to put in oil that frequently, it would go nearly dry if you went a full month of driving without pouring some in.We currently drive 2 Hyundais (Hyundaii?). This was a common problem in the Gen2 Prius where the oil rings get gunked up and don't stop the oil from getting into the combustion chamber. Most others swore by a full top end flush piston soak, but that seemed too messy and risky to me, so I found an easy remedy that drastically reduced my oil consumption. I just used a cheap Motor Medic Engine Flush with every oil change, make sure you have oil and just add the bottle and idle for maybe a little less than the 5 minutes it says and it cleans really well, the oil comes out black and stays cleaner longer and I didn't have to add any oil between changes any more. They make more expensive products like BG 44K you can try too, but the $10 Motor Medic stuff worked great. Still check your oil between changes and top off if needed of course. We currently drive 2 Hyundais (Hyundaii?). Our '16 Sonata (75k miles) was purchased with a CPO warranty.
