I bought a used set of lariat wheels with no sensors. I purchased Motorcraft sensors F2GZ-1A189-A. I installed on the wheels only. Going to get new tires very soon. Will my Maverick learn and reprogram themselves or will they need to be scanned?

You will have to program them more than likely. I've done it recently on an explorer and it was simple. There are youtube videos on how to get the truck into relearn mode and how to walk to each wheel and get it to add with the little tool you can buy off amazon for 10 bucks.

The learn mode instructions are in here, and some of the sensor examples. You need to make sure yours are 315MHz or 433MHz TPMS sensors . I know ford has changed them depending on the vehicle and year even with the same models. I've not researched the mavericks yet, but it will be one of the two Mhz.

It is as simple as put it in learn mode, walk to each wheel, wait for the honk, and then you're done.

I used this tool, but get whatever folks are using on here for the maverick. The tool has to support the frequency of your TMPS sensor.

I have a 24 XLT and bought a set of winter wheels & snow tires. Also a set of TPMS from Amazon. The truck automatically picks up the signal from whatever wheels are on the truck with no problem. Be sure to purchase the proper frequency TPMS (I've read they changed in 2025), and don't buy the cheapest ones, spend a bit more from reputable source.

I bought Motorcraft sensors F2GZ-1A189-A from Ebay. A friend of mine is a parts guy at my local dealer. He said they'd fit. Paid $40 he said the best price he could do was around $228.

this has been my experience with a set of wheels with tpms sensors from Tirerack. I did nothing when installing them, and I do nothing when swapping between them and my original equipment wheels. my truck just figures it out. 🤷‍♂️

if you do need a tpms learning tool they're pretty cheap on amazon.

I’ve found that most newer Fords learn new TPMS sensors on their own after driving around 10–15 minutes. If yours don’t show up, any tire shop can trigger them with their TPMS reader in under a minute.

Should pick them up in 15 miles or less. The batteries are good for up to 10 years or 125,000oles whichever comes first. Might check before mounting tires. I don't know if batteries are replaceable.

It'll pick up the sesors, but there is no way it'll know which tire is on which corner. So yeah, the TPMS light goes off, but when you get a low tire warning you'll need to manually check all the tires to figure out which one is low.

That's why it takes 15 miles or so to figure out the locations. A sensor counts the rotations and during the turns , etc all four tires will have different number of revolutions. Easy peasy to know which tire is where.

If that's true, it's pretty amazing. I have an Autel TPMS tool, so I just reprogram them right when I change the tires.
