I can anticipate undulations in the road and traffic with much more accuracy than the ACC.
While ACC is handy, I want to point out two concerns.
1. As you stated, I make it a point to anticipate changes in traffic flow and usually sooner than the ACC computer. This allows me to brake or accelerate more smoothly than how the ACC works.
2. When the ACC slows the car down, do my brake lights come on? That would be a very important signal for those behind me to match my down speed.

Always hated the "honk" feedback. While I can disable my truck's annoying honk, I have no such control on other's and it drives me nuts especially when navigating a parking lot. "Is somebody honking at me?" "Oh, it's just somebody announcing to the world that they locked their vehicle." "We're all proud of you."
Hello, I read your post and am interested. The part about getting rid of the 'HONK' I have a 2023 XLT 2.0 does that make a difference? Thank you

There are two hood prop holes.
Normal and "extra tall".

If you are extra tall and don't want to bump your head, look for and use the alternate hole.
Had to read this post twice to be sure what you were talking about.

EXTRA TIP FROM THE OP:
This is the best performance/handling tip ever (if you're me. Even if you're not, it still might be enjoyable).
My previous vehicle was cheapish, two-door 2.4L 5-speed 1999 Tacoma truck. Compared to the hybrid Maverick, it was a Flintstones mobile. In fact there's only one thing I missed about the old truck: a stick shift. Generally I love the easy smoothness of the automatic tranny in the hybrid, but there's an visceral art to downshifting into a curve to slow the truck and feel the wheels working against the engine. Then I discovered I could use the "L" button on the shift dial and get almost the same feeling, as the motor/generator takes a bigger bite of the wheel torque. Feels so good in a cloverleaf turn, and imparts a sense of better control as the MG slows the truck. Missing the stick shift less these days.
That's it. But it makes the driving experience more enjoyable. Even nostalgic.
:: Sidebar — have you done a deep-dive on how the power-split transmission really works in the hybrid? Worth searching YouTube videos for some demos. Truly a work of technology and art. The people who put that together are flat-out geniuses.

The hybrid idea was around when good ol' Henry Ford was alive.

It took the invention of fast computers to make it all work seamlessly at any speed in real time.

Not sure about the XLT, but most likely very nearly the same. Here's the process
  1. Turn on your truck.
  2. Press the Menu button on your steering wheel
  3. Go to Settings. Press OK on your steering wheel
  4. Go to Vehicle. Press OK
  5. Go to Locks. Press OK
  6. Go to Feedback. You should see how to disable the horn honk with a lock. Once disabled, the lights will still blink and you'll hear the locks click on.

There was a long thread a while back discussing using the "L" button and there was a lot of posts in thread about how overusing it could possible cause damage to the transmission. I don't recall there being any proof provided, it mostly a discussion about over heating and causing more rapid wear from what I remember.

That's likely a valid concern. I think it would be a serious problem if a driver were to use it frequently in place of regular braking. For my part, I'm still going to use it as a downshift around corners, which is a small percentage of my activities behind the wheel.

Hello again, I kind of looked around in my settings but I can't seem to find the one you listed for the 'HONK'. Maybe my 2023 doesn't have it? It is annoying. Thanks

In my 2022 XLT:

Press keyfob once- doors lock, lights flash.

Press keyfob twice- doors lock, lights flash horn honks.

Best of everything. Everything you want, nothing you don't. Like having your cake and eating it too.

I don't see why everyone's truck is not like this.

Usually no honking.
Once in a while when you're not 100% sure, you can get the satisfying confirmation honk.

Simply perfect.

By the way, I checked tonight and the "L" behaved the same in every mode.

Normal, Eco, Slippery.... only applies when you are in D (normal drive).

L overrides the mode. Regen is always set to maximum.

If you can't pull in that far, you can select the camera delay mode and activate the rear camera momentarily by selecting reverse before driving forward into the garage while monitoring the camera for the correct spot. I use this to ensure I'm within my parking space when parallel parking also.
or alternately just do the old 'hang the tennis ball from the ceiling' trick

This question is why I'm cautious about using Auto Hold, for the folks behind me.
