OEM Ford one below. I have both the one below and the one you linked. both work for me buttons and keys. I feel like the quality of the OEM Ford one is better.

thank you for your posting. Finally got some confirmation that the amazon key does work other then the OP.

Quite amazing that a key can be made with precision from a photo. Did you send two or three photos of the blade so the key maker could make a choice which to use?

I asked you because the FOB section of the key was large enough to hold the chip to program the truck.

The chip must be really tiny in order to be installed within the rubber section of the key (without the FOB} in order to program truck for that key
This is what a key chip looks like. It’s sitting on a quarter for reference.

I only had one oem FOB and had to get a locksmith to program it with a laptop and sepcial ford software. Only one locksmith out of the five in the area could do it. Dealer would had cost $200 to program a new FOB.
What did the locksmith charge you to program the key

Think of your tap-in-pay CC's - that small.
The chip just needs to hold a micro-radio, such that when it receives power via some radio waves it can send out it's info. Very close proximity.

That's why the keyless entry system powers the chip as needed and sends the info farther with stronger signal. Why the truck can see the fob in the truck or outside.

It's also why you don't get the cheapest key you can - it may have quality control problems, and that ability to make a little power from the radio wave and send out it's info is broken.
You'll see some sellers claim to test their keys for that working.

I followed the Larist push button start procedure using one if the keys listed by the OP. On the push and hold, no chirp, no programming. Has Ford changed the procedure on the 2025’s or could I have a bum key blank?

The procedure is pretty straightforward: put key #1 in the depression (face up), push start without the brake (accessory mode), count to 5, push start, swap in key #2, repeat, swap in blank key, push and hold start (foot not on peddle). There should be a chirp, but there was nothing. Is my procedure incorrect?

$11.14+tax complete with battery. No log. Plastic cover feels the same as the factory fob.
Got the key cut for $25 by a FB linked locksmith. Functions the same as the OEM.

those do not work on a 2025. any of the older fobs, Ford or 3rd party, do not work on 2025 because they changed the encryption at least, and maybe the actual radios in it.

if anyone is reading this and has a 2025, you currently have no option besides buying a Ford-branded fob from either a local dealership or one of the various Ford parts resellers online.

Good to know. The locksmith told me Ford does not allow owners to add the fob software? key to the list, it must be done at a dealer, or locksmith with the required equipment for 2025 model year.
.
Glad to say I do no have the keyless ignition as so many are finding their 'secret' codes being intercepted and their truck driving away as they watch with the keyless system.
It seems the industry, not just FoMoCo, should be looking into better encryption for the keyless ignition/entry systems. Likely a two step signon where you get a 6 digit code on your cell...
No thanks, considering that extra step not worth the problems. Maybe padlocks on the doors?

There has been many questions on the keys for our beloved trucks and as a locksmith I can say if you lose all your keys you will more than likely have to tow it back to the dealer until our software is updated. HOWEVER I have confirmed on board programming works if you have the original two keys ( two programmed keys ) - you can program them yourself - that has been mentioned here before. Do this NOW !!! before you loose one of the two keys LOL.

On the XL or XLT trucks you can either add a flip remote or just a standard key ( possibly you might want to add two cheaper keys as a backup ) On the Lariat only the fob will work however the emergency key is not required. I thought I would put links to which keys to purchase and you can take them to a local locksmith just to have cut - as long as you maintain two extra you are in good shape adding in the future.

XL and XLT Keys - I have posted multiple links in case one is out of stock -
Remote headed Keys - $23.99-https://amzn.to/40xtAk7 or $29.95 https://amzn.to/3RpQJAH or $23.99 https://amzn.to/3WVGxAX

flip.jpg

If yours has a remote start it would be this key - 49.99- https://amzn.to/3wNgDVG 89.95 2 Pack - https://amzn.to/3jsaBq7 45.29 - https://amzn.to/3WUcmdl

remote.jpg

Plastic Headed Keys -
16.95 for 2 - https://amzn.to/3HNZe5h 43.21 Ford Factory Blank ( same Chip ) https://amzn.to/3jklzOD If you are wanting to do a "hide-a-key" this one is the one to use due to it being waterproof.

To program you insert the existing first key, turn on ignition, count to three, take out put in existing second key turn on ignition - count to three - take new third key - turn on ignition - leave on - you should hear a chirp and a message key was successful.

For the Lariat -
58.95 - https://amzn.to/3XT89b7 109.95 - 2 Pack - https://amzn.to/40m014U 37.95 - https://amzn.to/3XaDs0h For the Fob to work / be programmed it doesn't matter if the key is cut or not - it only opens the door if the battery is completely dead.

prox.jpg

If your Fob does not have remote start for the 2023 Lariat it is this one - 38.99 - https://amzn.to/40ihWsZ

nostart_.jpg

To program - open center console. Pull up felt cover - place first existing fob in depression - push start button ( without foot on brake ) ignition comes on- count to 5 - remove fob - push ignition off - put second existing fob in depression - push ignition on - count to five - remove fob - push ignition off. take new fob - put in depression push AND HOLD start button down - you should hear chirp and message - key programming successful.

All in all pretty simple procedures and a few dollars and effort now can save you hundreds later !

thanks for iinfo. I went to your first flip keep at top from amazon. The description doesn't show a maverick there, as you know. Did you contact the advertiser and see said it will work for maverick?

After you got the keys , you then went and got them cut. What was approx. cut for the cuts?

In the first post it says that you need two key fobs to get this to work. What if you already lost one? Only have one left? Do I need to go to a locksmith? Or can something be done with forscan?

if you do not have 2 working fobs you need a Ford dealership or an independent who has purchased FRDS.

you can only add a key yourself if you have 2 working fobs.

Ok. My local dealer quoted me $275 so I figured that isn't too bad. A local locksmith quoted me $500-700
