My Maverick auto connects to my phone when the vehicle is running. The problem I'm having is with my phone trying to connect or think it's connected to the truck when not in the truck. My Maverick is normally parked on a car port outside my workshop, and I don't have any issues parked at home.

First instance is when I stayed at an AirBnb, Maverick was parked close to the AirBnb and my cell phone would shut down my cell service to make a call or use data. The andoid auto cell phone app thought I was in the Maverick and driving and should be hands free. I had to shut down WiFi, bluetooth, and manually shut off the Android App on my phone and then reboot the phone in order to regain cell phone use.

Second instance was when I took my wife to the eye doctors to get her eyes dilated. The Maverick was parked right out front. The Phone acted the same way as the first instance.

Anyone else having this issue? I have made sure the Android App is the current one and updated each time I'm notified of and update. Should I report this bug to Android Auto, Ford or both?

I haven't had this behavior at all. The phone shouldn't be connected to the truck at all if the truck is truly shut off, so my money is on your phone misbehaving before I lay the blame on the truck.

I have not had this behavior at all, and my truck is parked about 20 feet from where I sit in my living room. I have found that when driving, the truck ignores RCS messages to my phone, although SMS ones come thru fine. This has caused me to miss some important messages. I wonder if this behavior is known or if my problem is unique as yours seems to be.

Are you using a wireless dongle to connect your phone and truck? I ask since this is typically the way AA would demonstrate this behavior.

If so, there may be some settings to help, or you can setup a routine based on the ford Bluetooth connection status to prevent connection to the wireless dongle.

Yes, I saw this behavior with Android Auto. Whenever my wife would start her car, my phone would connect to it even if I was actively using headphones. I have not seen it do that with CarPlay. So, I think it is strictly and Android Auto "feature."

good thought, but the OP has a '25 per his forum pic. they are natively wireless android auto and wireless carplay.

they shouldn't do this unless the truck is awake. it will wake up when you unlock it, or open a door, or remote start it. if he's doing any of those things or a few other things that can wake up the truck, then it's normal for wireless AA / carplay to connect to the truck if it's in bluetooth range.

if he's not doing any of those things the truck should be asleep and should not have bluetooth alive for wireless AA/carplay to find.

Im assuming the Maverick in question is a 2025, since that is what is in their profile pic. No need for a dongle.

Mine does not connect bluetooth/AA until I turn the truck on. Unlocking it or opening the door does not turn on the bluetooth connectivity at all. I don't think I would expect that to happen, either.

I know when I am near the truck with the fob I hear all kinds of clicking noises (locked or unlocked.) I wonder if this happens whenever the fob is in range of the truck waking it up and causing this phone behavior. Could just be my phone, which is a Motorola Ace 5G.

Yes and no. Mainly no, those things should not cause the infotainment to wake up enough to start bluetooth. I wouldn't be surprised if it's a bug they'll fix with an over-the-air Sync4 update.
