got our first look at our Maverick this past weekend. without much deliberation, wife and I both found it very lacking.,to say we were disappointed would be an understatement. looks considerably smaller than the Santa Cruze, and ridgeline, we were expecting much the same lines. this was a 2.0 loaded alto blue, FX4 with lux package and 4k towing. We were expecting the same sort of trim level as in our 10 year old Lariat F150 and found it cramped with about an acre of plastic that looks like plastic, I know my F150 has about the same amount of plastic in the cabin but it is well disguised, no attempt to cover it up it the Maverick this was not a 20.000 dollar lower end of the spectrum truck, this was fully loaded with pretty much every available option added to the Lariat. never again going to order a vehicle sight unseen. This was a long wait for a disappointing unit

Vehicle interiors have been all plastic or mostly since the 50’s with all steel dashes. With some trucks still having some exposed metal into the 70’s. All entitled to our opinions. Thrilled with mine. Would be bummed too waiting so long to be disappointed.

It's great that you were able to see one in person and decided it's not for you.

I do find it strange that you decided to join this forum just to make a post here advising us of that fact.

Goodbye, good luck, and enjoy whatever vehicle you decide on.

And the dealer rejoiced! . . . I had to sit in a Maverick before pulling the trigger to order and it exceeded my expectations. Everyone is different you will find what your looking for.

I spent some time with a couple of Mavericks and also decided it's not for me, but I have a positive feeling about the Mav. Gotta set your expectations - it's modern, but it's not a F-150 in fit and finish. It's roomy like a crossover, not a SUV. Etc. It's definitely a budget car that can be optioned up into non-budget turf.

If you had ordered it for MSRP without a lot of fees, I would have still purchased it and sold it even if it wasn't for you, could have made a couple grand "selling your spot" so to speak. Dealer is likely pretty happy.

Looks considerably smaller-an important distinction. The reality is it’s functionally quite large inside.6’5” sat in it with 6’2” salesman. Anybody notice the potential additional storage behind the back seat? Most buyers look at this vehicle for intelligent functionality& not burning double the $$ in the air as u will w/most trucks& knowing they can spend 50% less with what is ultimately a depreciating asset. Simply putting on bigger tires makes his vehicle look much bigger. Looking bigger is important to a lot of people and they enjoy paying for it….,

Appreciate the perspective. It's always good to see both sides of the coin, and this place can be a fountain of blind positivity sometimes. Having looked at the XL and XLT interiors in person prior to getting my Lariat I was afraid the materials would be dissuasive to committing to my final purchase, but contrary to your take I ended up quite liking the Lariat interior and Ford's plastic choices.

The one great thing about this car's interior in contrast to what I've disliked in our current second car and previous recent cars, and many new cars, is there's no piano black surfaces anywhere to be found. Lots of brands 'premium' up the look of their car with this design choice and it's terrible to keep tidy. I'll take the recycled plastic material over piano black any day of the week. This is one of my gripes with the Santa Cruz.

Not sure if I believe the OP. He joined to post this single thread?

No pics. No order date. No build date. Cramped? About 99% knew the inside of the Maverick was cheap and not made for luxury.

I mean, I have been so excited about an affordable truck that I still think that I will love mine when it gets here, but it does makes me want to take a look at the most affordable version of the Santa Cruz and compare. In videos and pictures they look about the same size, but the Mav looks more like a truck and not so much like an suv trying too hard.

I agree on the piano black. The never ending fingerprints would drive me nuts.

You understand it's weird to make a post which is both your introduction and your flounce at the same time, right?
