have had the hybrid vehicle for a month (1500 miles driven) and had not heard this specific noise when starting the vehicle.

I had heard a similar noise before switching the vehicle from park to drive but this time it seemed to be much louder. The noise did go away when I got up to about 15/20 MPH.

Any recommendations are appreciated!

*outside temp is 81 and the AC is on 67

They exited the site from monitoring.

If you can video this scenario, much easier for others to compare and contrast.
appreciate the heads up on both things. I’ve re-uploaded the video. I believe when I edited my original message it took the video away. Thx

I'm wondering if your pedestrian noise, which starts in Drive and stops around 20, is messed up.

And a new sound on 25MY. Though no one else that had prior years and got a 25 has commented on that being a change.

But it shouldn't engage in Park as yours is doing.
So it could be a double messed up thing - engaging wrong time, and wrong sound.

That is the electric air conditioner compressor. Turn off AC to check to be sure.
Edit to add: what is inside temp? If it's over 100°F the AC will be running flat out depends on btu's needed.

I agree. Sounds like the electric air condirioning at a high output setting.

That's startled more than a few of us first time we heard it. But normal if that goes away when you turn the Air Conditions and Defrost off. Or it should be pretty quiet at a low setting.

This is it, it's loud, but that's just how it is.

Thank you sir. I believe the A/C was set to #3 so it was not a very high setting but I will go out shortly to test it again.

In fairness, it has been getting much hotter here in Raleigh and I had not started the car in above 80 degree temps before today

It's very noisy when it first comes on when the truck is stationary, which is very noticeable if you use remote start on a hot day. As you noticed, once you start driving it quiets down, since air starts moving through the system which bring cooler air to the radiator for the AC system.

LOL, That's what it sounds like. Hard to tell as video recordings etc. do not sound the same as real life sitting in or standing beside the vehicle.

My 25 lariat while making all kind of funky sounds compared to every vehicle (Old school Straight Gas ICE) I have owned for 50 plus years, Has no sound similar to the OP's recording. I live in South Fla. and the AC basically starts and for the most part runs on Max cooling / High Fan speed.

I now have 1,700 miles on my 25 of which 1,500 plus miles are Highway Driving (Fla T-Pike / I-75).

You have a hybrid; correct?

If so, try running the A/C on high fan, lowest temperature, with the hood open, in electric mode.

You'll hear it.

You won't hear it with the gasoline engine running.

FYI= This is close to being the #1 reason for the soundproof windshield in the Lariat. Also consider purchasing the slightly more expensive after market sound proof one if you ever need to replace the windshield.
