An extra gallon of gas is less than 7lbs. Assuming that you're going to need the heating/cooling components, extra wiring, etc, I would assume that you will need maybe 200lbs of extra weight just to extend the existing pack with a second battery. That's going to drop your mileage by maybe 2mpg or so. The $2300 for the extra battery pack will get you another 1.1mi before the engine kicks in. That's most definitely not worth it.Adding an extra battery is like adding an extra gallon of gas is all I'm saying.
It will not change the performance of the truck.
If you add the very expensive 11kw battery from the PHEV Escape, that's going to get you maybe 6 or 7 more miles before the engine kicks in, but you're going to need to seriously upgrade the battery cooling circuit to do that.
If you added the battery from the Mustang, that gets you decent electric range, but nowhere to put that much battery (maybe fill the box?), you need to support over a ton of extra weight and it would take forever to charge without plugging it into the wall.
