My daughter needs a vehicle and says she would like to keep my truck.so,should there be any reason not to buy a 2024 or should i get a 2025?definentley going to get a ecoboost and a trailor hitch and a cheap xlt.

Well you might have to wait 480 years to buy a 2505 so I'd say the 2024 might be the better bet 😁

Seriously, it really depends on the kind of deal you can get on '24's and if you can live without the upgrades of the '25? I'd compare both and get the one that makes the most sense and cents to you.

OP, I also have a 22 ecoboost here in Western NC. I recently considered trading on both a 2024 and 2025 Maverick. I also looked at a Santa Cruz (nicer tech and interior). My takeaway was that it was six of one and a half dozen of the other. I really don't think you can go much wrong with any of those choices - 2024 or 2025 Maverick or a 2024 or 2025 Santa Cruz. If the numbers were right, I could happily go for any of them.

If you're a potential long-term owner, the 2025 ecoboost has what seems to be a nicer fuel injection system that should reduce carbon deposits on the valves.

PS: The depreciation on my ecoboost was horrific. In 2025 dollars, $12,000 depreciation for 32,000 miles.

I didn't actually sell it, and won't, but I had an offer of $28k on my '22 lariat lux with 49k miles. against the original price of $36,550 that isn't horrible.

anyway, for the OP:
get a 2025 if it fits your budget. for the xlt, you get push to start and a vastly improved infotainment system.

Just curious - is that the inflation-adjusted price for your 2022? I ask because a lot of members on MTC make the thought mistake of comparing what they paid in 2022 with what they're offered in 2025. The dollars are not equivalent.

I only mention this because the otherwise upfront sales guy tried to tell me I was only depreciating by $8,000. He was using my unadjusted purchase price from 2022. It's kind of a scummy sales move. Still, even adjusting $36,550 for inflation - that's a pretty good trade offer. I could handle $11,000 over 50,000 miles in a heartbeat. That was a pretty decent trade offer for thot many miles.

$36,550 is what I paid.

since you asked, though, computing for inflation is of no value on a maverick when instead you can simply build the same/similar maverick or whatever options you want. the price of this 2025 then is your comparison, which is much more relevant than picking 9% or any other number, and it does not change the current value of a used vehicle regardless.

BUT if you hold out for the 2505 it might come w/ a Flux Capacitor! Maybe worth the wait?

depends if you have something else to ride around in in the interim and if so and you were planning on getting rid of it how much any repairs will cost. You need to consider that the new ones on the lot might now command sticker price - if you wait for a '25 those prices might be increasing due to the tariffs. Unless there's some hard reason to wait for a '25, I'd just go find what's on the lots now and go from there.

I’m biased. I sold my 2023 Tremor ahead of getting my 2025 AWD Hybrid.

Since you’re looking at ecoboost I think it opens the door for going back to a 2024 but the major drivetrain upgrade for the Ecoboost in 2025 is the addition of port fuel injection.

As some others have pointed out your XLT in 2025 will come with push button start, sync 4 (as opposed to garbage Connected Touch Radio), and larger screens.

That's a good point about the port fuel injection, I forgot about that on the '25. When you add that with the Sync 4 those by themselves probably point me to the '25. Unless you had first hand experience with the Connected Touch Radio or the Sync 3 on the Lariat (which I have both) you have no idea what an upgrade the Sync 4 is, especially over Connected Touch Radio which feels like it's from 2005 which it probably is.

No idea the age of CTR but Sync 3 is more than 11 years old!

Sync 4/4a more than 6 years old.

The points about wait times and possible tariffs on the 2025 are valid and would be a big concern to me as the purchaser. I guess it would come down for me what the actual delta in price was. Less than $3k? I'm probably going 2025. But if we're talking a $5-6k difference? OP should snatch a 2024 probably.

Ok,port fuel injection could make me go for the 2025!all the hiteck stuff means nothing to me ! And does towing package give you a higher gear ratio and transmission cooler?

I'd say if you're not all that interested in the MY25 bells & whistles (larger screen, etc.), you're best bet is to take advantage of the good deals currently out on the MY24s.
I bought a 2024 Larist a few weeks ago, with a $1,000 dealer discount and $1,000 from Ford. It was assembled on Sept. 23, 2024. Which isn’t long ago.
