My 2022 Ford Maverick lariat hybrid got stuck in park last week and wouldn't change to drive. The dealership found the problem to be a blown fuse number 23. After picking the car up today and bring it at home it got stuck in park again! The truck has 71,000 mi on it. The first repair for the fuse cost me $700. Apparently they have to pull the dash apart to get at the fuse. From what I figure, it seems to have something to do with the sensor on the brake. I'll put an update after the dealership gets it fixed again hopefully for good this time!

1. There's a module inside the eCVT (ISC module?), it was unsealed in the '22s and later sealed in '23. If that module goes bad, then the vehicle will experience a SHIFT SYS fault and be unable to get out of park.
2. The BCM-C wiring harness (C1002) is technically non-sealed, people have experienced the same fault due to corroded terminal pins. It usually causes a fault rather than a blown fuse, but I guess if the right kind of moisture were there then it would be possible to short.
3. Mine was traced to a bad mode selector module. To be fair, my SHIFT SYS fault resolved after a few ours and it had been a few weeks before I went to the dealership. So it's still possible that the mode selector module wasn't the issue.

Since yours sounds like a sensor issue, I'm leaning towards the BCM-C wiring harness.

Thanks for your help. I'll share it with the dealership in the morning.

Same with mine, been in the shop for 5 months waiting on a wire harness , this is the second time dealing with shift sys faults too. Would not come out of park. Never blew a fuse tho, first time they put new transmission in and lasted a year, next time it ended up being a corroded pins in the 40 pin plug under the front left bumper. Apparently this happens to a lot of fords per engineering . Took them 5 months to get the complete wire harness for the front half of the truck as just the 40pin was not a replaceable part. When the warranty expires I’ll will be soldering the wires together if it happens again. They did load the connector full of dialectic grease this time to help keep the water out.

Are you telling me Ford actually buried a fuse in a spot so bad they have to tear the dash out to access it? The " purpose" of a fuse is to easily fix a potential problem before it gets worse! I'm surprised Ford would do this.

the OP reads that way, but I believe it to be factually incorrect. I believe they tore apart the dash trying to diagnose the issue.

I would check that first. The ECM is there and it's relatively well-known that this is a very poor design. Here's a thread talking about relocating it, I'm not certain if it would help with this issue but I think it's worth reviewing.

That would make more sense. 700 dollars to change a fuse would be criminal.it should be something the owner does by himself for free

It's still at the dealership and the transmission is being removed to determine the cause of the problem. They said there's 2 possibilities. 1 of them would be related to the hybrid system. If it's that one, it'll be covered under warranty. If that's not it, I'll be out an additional $2,500 for the cost of pulling the transmission, plus any additional parts. I'll add updates when available.

The dealership just informed me that the part that was causing the Stuck in Park issue isn't covered under warranty as it isn't a hybrid part and I have 71,000 on the truck. $5,000 is the estimated cost of the repair (stop/pause module) as they had to pull the transmission. Ouch!!

that dealership is cornholing you between the diagnostic charges, tearing apart the dash, etc.

I'm not sure you really have an option to have it towed elsewhere, though. just for the hell of it, have you talked to them about just trading it in?

I'm a little gun shy right after this adventure with my electronic transmission.

As you should be. I would be too. I'm thinking seriously of either getting rid of my Maverick when the warranty expires or buying the extended warranty. All this electronic whiz magic is nice but only when it works. Things can go south in a hurry and when they do the one guarantee is that it will be expensive as hell. As you well know. The way vehicles are now, I think for us it would be best just to lease every three years given how little we drive. I dunno.
