Law of demand will tell...Wonder if tariff will be eaten up by ford or the consumers. Will it bring up older maverick models in value?

You think the vehicles currently on the lots won't be affected? Have you never noticed that when someone in the far east oil fields farts, the price of gas goes up even if it has been sitting in the underground tank for a month? When the tariffs kick in, the new car lots will be littered with old window stickers. Dealership+Stealership.
Yes, I have touched the wall and driven along most of it in the El Paso area. My son and his family live there and I've been there dozens of times. You can see the wall easily from the Interstate, runs for MILES. There were some openings in places where private businesses/industries were situated, literally, right on the border and were having many issues with the illegals coming through frequently. Looting and theft were common. Some of those corporations and some small businesses got permits and permission and built portions of their own walls, stopping a large portion of the problem. The rail yard downtown is especially critical. Those guys sneaking over occasionally get run over, or fall out/off the train cars as they are passing through the "DMZ" They come across by the dozens on occasions, overwhelming the railroad cops and local police. "Getaways". That said, in the last week, things have dropped to a trickle. Not rocket science, but "something" is working!i guess you don't know the truth or reality unless you witness it happen in person. Has anyone actually been to the border and touched the wall? Anyways, what real is my wallet is getting thinner nowadays. Feel bad for those who are even less fortunate than me.
of this, I wasn't aware: guess I best get started.....Is every forum member required to start a topic on tariffs?
Tit for tat. Other countries will retaliate with import taxes on their own people. NOBODY wins except the rich and they will get more tax cuts too. It is always the little guy that gets screwed. The rich are the ones that got the bailouts in 2009. The rich are the ones who benefitted from most of the stimulus in 2020. The list goes on and onOne thing I would like to clarify, tariffs are placed on imports, ie goods coming into a country, not on goods going outbound. That's called an export tax and what is being considered here in Canada. Specifically oil.. If this trade war really happens, we ALL pay more for almost everything... And the rich get richer.. You know the rest. That's Economics 2, 3 and 4.
The tariffs should not apply to your Maverick. You are price protected if you have a signed DORA (sales agreement) unless you have a dishonest dealer who wants to "double dip". If you have a honest dealer, you will not pay beyond your sales agreement. So as someone with a Maverick in transit, shows as shipped updated on the 26 (third update) with a new delivery date of 7-11 Feb, this thread means a lot to my final decision whether to finalize the truck or not. So if someone has heard factual based information of whether Ford is passing along the additional cost or not, Please let us know. I feel in my bones that my truck is already across the border and hopeful it is out of port. But these bones are old and it might just be the arthritis meds.
So you are saying that for once I will get a better price then the dealer will pay (or Ford)? The tariffs should not apply to your Maverick. You are price protected if you have a signed DORA (sales agreement) unless you have a dishonest dealer who wants to "double dip". If you have a honest dealer, you will not pay beyond your sales agreement.
Don't think so. When the US made their first air strike at the start of the Iraqi war, the prices for gasoline at the pump went up $1 to 1.5 per gallon before the end of the day.Don't assume we will see price increases the next day. It will take some time for prices to work through the system
I have stated energy is different than goods. Energy is traded on the futures markets and we see the effects immediately. Goods are different. It is like they get an air shipment on oil, but they are always slow to come down. The markets set the price of oil and gas. OEMs will set the MSRP of vehicles. I guess there could be a few greedy dealers that try to take advantage of the situation. The point it, tariffs aren't placed on current inventoryDon't think so. When the US made their first air strike at the start of the Iraqi war, the prices for gasoline at the pump went up $1 to 1.5 per gallon before the end of the day.
It would also be nice to not use a machete if a tweezers will work. A lot less fingers lost!Very little in the world is a zero sum game. There are complex intricacies that you can't just thrash through. Sometimes you need a tweezers, sometimes you need a machete.
Answer : Cheap hydro electricity... like nowhere else on the planet"Raw Aluminum " OK. But crude aluminum is sourced from bauxite ore. And that does not come from Canada. Maybe other locations will be developed to process the ore into raw metal. Who knows but why is Canada unique here in processing ore into useable metal form ?
Ford executives' performance/pay and their own portfolios are related to stock prices. Stock prices are directly related to earnings. Ford can only "eat" so much of the tariffs and show profitability. Of course, one way to make up for tariff costs is to use cheaper goods in the manufacture of the vehicle. Like using a Camel battery from China installed in my 22 EB which is under recall. Finally a voice of reason. Thank you.
