When installed and positioned properly, the cover is relatively water tite. Recently I found the manufacturers are adding in a clay substance to fill the seems/gaps on the bed top plastic rail covers. Try adding that to yours and see how you do after the next car wash

I added a length of weatherstripping on the tailgate, to fill the gap there, but I think the high pressure wash/rinse just blows water past the seal along the cab. Someday, I'm going to ask my wife to ride in there to see exactly where it's coming in, and when.

You must have a very tolerant wife if she takes you up on that offer. If it were, me, the response I'd get from my wife to that request is "how about YOU ride in the back, and I'll stay dry in the cab and drive".

Just to chime in as well, I have the Ford soft tri-fold tonneau and I do see water getting in the bed after a car wash. Amount varies with how much time I spend washing the upper part of the bed and trying to get all the soap off the tonneau but it's typically not been super significant. I do try to make sure the bed is empty or not holding anything I don't want to get wet when washing.

I have not seen any issues with water getting in the bed while driving in wet or rainy conditions.

I have some wet spots, but nothing that you would describe as significant after I go through a car wash or on a heavy rain. Or even as a matter of fact since we've gotten snow and it melts. I have the Ford trifold tonneau cover that was factory installed. I was shocked when I got my truck that the tonneau cover was on it, I expected it to come separately in the dealer would have to put it on. I know when I got it that it was water resistant but not waterproof. But my bed is still a hell of a lot drier than it would be if I didn't have the tonneau cover on.

If one needs waterproof, a van - not a pickup is usually a better vehicle choice.
Some water in my truck bed does not bother me. I mostly wanted to know if that was normal, and since that is, I am not worried.

Water gets in. I just pop open the back of the cover when I get home and just let it air out.
