I have heard weight distribution hitches should not be used on unibody frames. Is this correct? The reason that I ask is because I'm pulling a trailer that is pushing the Maverick's weight limit. I'd get more traction on the front tires if using a weight distribution hitch, but I don't want to even consider using one if it is not recommended.

Thanks,
Andrew

They are not recommended by owners or Ford. But they stop short of being prohibited by Ford.

Try "air lift" air bags inside your rear springs first. Cheap. ($120). Easy (DIY in like 30 minutes).

I did. No regrets. They help a lot. And it's all I've needed for a very comfortable ride. I put 1300 lbs in my bed frequently and tow 3200 lbs occasionally. (Not at the same time.)

I ordered and have received both the Air Lift 1000 kit and a Curt Anti-sway bar.

I have the bar installed. I did a test pull with the bar and it works fine. I didn't push it to the point where I felt any tendency for my camper to sway, but I did go down a good sized hill almost 10 mph faster than the speed where I previously felt the camper get a little squirrelly.

I may get the air lift kit installed Friday. If not, it will be next week. I've already taken sag measurements with bed weight, tongue weight, and combined weight. I'm ready to do the install and see what it improves.

Air bags help A LOT to reduce bounce when going over RR track or speed bumps, etc. I think you will like having them.

I just got them installed this afternoon. I'll be pulling the camper tomorrow. We'll see how it goes.

QUESTION: Do you fill yours to 35# with your 3100 pounds?

A bit "subjective". 🤷🏻‍♂️

I've been on the road with the camper since 4:30. It's been pouring rain, so I didn't check for improvement in sag, but it's been pulling fine. I have 35# in it now. I'll drop it a bit when I won't get soaked, then see how I like it.
