Was just curious how many guys/gals on here went from a F-150 to a Maverick? I've got mine on order and got a text it was shipped Sunday. I've driven a F-150 since 2000 (on my 4th). Yes, I know it's smaller, yada yada. I did test drive an XLT Maverick last year, it was an Ecoboost. I opted to get the Hybrid AWD. Never owned a Hybrid before, I expect it to be sluggish off the line. My current F-150 has the 3.5 Ecoboost, and I know I'll miss that for sure. But I'm looking forward to the savings in gas. My F-150 is my personal truck, and I have a CRV for my business. I'm simplifying and going back to one vehicle, hence the decision to get the Maverick. Other than cab and bed space, and engine size, anything else I need to adjust to?

Sluggish off the line? I can tell you haven't driven a hybrid. Put the thing in drive and stand on the gas pedal, even better, put it into Sport mode and stand on it. Not sluggish.

Drove full size trucks since the 70's, majority F150's (supercrew's since they came out). I miss the interior space in the F150 a lot but it hasn't been a huge deal to adjust. The Maverick's a great little truck, I really like it, but there's times it wouldn't take much arm twisting to go trade for another F150 to be honest.

Even in normal mode this thing will getty up and go. Just got home from shopping and have to jump on the freeway for a very short distance and then take a left lane exit, it got up to and beyond freeway speed so quick it was almost shocking. Absolutely no problem with acceleration, I love this little truck.

Went from a 19year old F150 single cab, stepside...my new tremor will out accelerate and out maneuver the f150 without breaking a sweat. The gear select will take some (ok a LOT) of getting used to... The interior space - that too. But overall - I enjoy driving this little bad boy much more than the F150.

One thing you'll need to adjust to is the ease of parking, at least compared to an F150. And spending less on gas.

You'll be sitting lower. I really miss the higher seating position of my older Rangers. And I have the seat full up. OTOH, ride is really nice because it's unibody instead of frame.

Quality is less robust than the F150. That's Ford's halo truck. Ford builds F150s in the millions. The F150 got a lot more development attention than the Maverick - which is kind of a low-volume, low-profit afterthought on Ford's part. The Maverick is new and they're still figuring it out. The F150 has been iteratively perfected for decades.

Also, having owned a full size bed for all my older trucks, you can't carry things as conveniently. You see a lot of dangerous-looking load extenders on MTC by people with more ambition than common sense. So if you frequently carry long loads - you'll want a trailer or an overhead rack setup.

The only thing I don't miss from my previous 2016 F150 is the 17 mpg and the 32 gall tank. I just didn't need that large of a truck, I never towed and hardly hauled much of anything besides ass. The 2.0 EB is a beast like it's big bother the 3.5 I had in both my F-150's.

I have the ecoboost, so I doubt the speed or lack of sound from ECVT are similar. After watching this video I know I made the right choice. The noise and pedal down and can not do the speed limit.

I don't live at 11000ft above sea level either. When towing I don't know it's back there, very responsive. Most of the time I'm by myself so the room is not an issue. The few times I had passengers it was adequate to say the least. The ride is very noticable and have gotten compliments on it the few times I did have passengers. A little more road noise and having the FX4 package it supposedly a little stiffer ride with the suspension difference. It handles so much better with hugging the road and reducing body roll. It still rides better that the longer wheel base F150 crew with 6.75 bed 4x4. It is so much easier to maneuver, park, ingress, egress, load and unload the bed.

More road noise from bad pavement. I thought it's ride was worse. So I'm thinking I'm hearing the road noise vs actually feeling it. Case in point they finally fixed it but when they redid the road in West Branch they did a lousy job of the railroad tracks. I hated them and use to cringe when I was driving the F150. I knew what it was going to feel like especially my back. After going over them with the Maverick I started smiling knowing it makes a lot of sound going over them but my back didn't feel a thing. Recently they finally corrected the issue but that memory will last me a lifetime.

For me having the 5.8 liter at 15 on a good day to 31/32 mpg with the Maverick is also a contributing factor. I opted for the ecoboost because of two lane highway is the majority of my driving. Also last two night were -16 and -17 below, batteries don't last long in these type of temperatures is another reason I opted for the ecoboost. After listening to the ECVT and seeing it struggle to maintain its speed in that video, I chose the right combination for myself. I also know that the automatic transmission can increase engines torque with the torque converter more than the ECVT and it's starting out with more torque to.begin with. Also an automatic transmission is capable of absorbing a driveline shock not so with a ECVT or a manual transmission.

I rarely need to put my pedal down but at times I have when pulling out in traffic and not wanting to slow traffic or cause an accident or when needing to pass on the two lane highway. I actually love my Maverick and I don't miss the F150.

Hopefully you get more posts and more points of views and opinions. Sorry that I can't give you more information on the hybrid. I'm extremely happy with the 2.0 ecoboost though.

You don't need a A.S.S. eliminator. The Hybrid doesn't have a.s.s.

OP: One thing you'll love is the buttery smooth transmission on the Hybrid. That will take no getting used to. No schizo-shift conventional automatic transmission, because it doesn't shift - it doesn't need to. There's not even a Reverse gear. Reverse is all-electric. When you shift to R, the electric motor just reverses direction. This is not a CVT - it's an eCVT. No belts or pulleys. Read about it. It's a very reliable transmission with 2/3 less moving parts than a conventional automatic trans.

No belts under the hood, either. And your braking is mostly regenerative. Expect brake pads & rotors to last between 100-200k miles.
Expect going about twice as long between oil changes, compared to what you're used to. Exception to that is if you drive all highway miles.

I was telling my wife this weekend that the best thing I like about the Maverick is its size. I also said the frustrating thing about the Maverick has been the size. I'd say there is a 30-40% chance I trade it in for something larger by the end of the year. Though, I may just pay it off and give it to my daughter.

One could argue the hybrid is auto start stop.

i have driven 2 F150's and a jacked up 77 F250 and i really miss my 03 F150 for its comfort and height. I still cant quite figure out how to get into Mav. without hitting my head. F150 i stepped up into it not down. I think it is personal preference and not a knock on the Mav. With the exceptions of the battery issue (3 new batterys) i have no real complaints, the Mav has enough power, more bells and whistles than i really need, bed is just enough for my use. I have to admit i felt Safer in my tough built like a tank F 150s. Wish my 03 F150 hadnt rusted out or i would of kept her, she still ran like the wind but things kept falling off

TruDat.
But if you're gentle on the go pedal, the ICE doesn't even start when the light turns green and you drive away. And if you do jackrabbit start, the truck's already started moving by the time the ICE starts up. And never a vibration like a 12v starter on an ecoboost.

That may be a false sense of security. If you look at some of the badass wrecks people on MTC have walked away from, you'll feel pretty confident in the construction of the Maverick with its unibody crumple zones, engineered to absorb much of the impact in a crash.

Since I no longer need a huge truck bed, I don't miss my F-150 at all. The Mav fits in the garage and is easy to park on the narrow historic streets of my little town.
