The hybrid electric part of the Maverick has an 8 year 100k warranty. All of the Ford Ecoblast motors have had some real bad issues. Any motor that is spun up by a plastic turbo for horsepower is suseptible to problems. Check out the recalls on all of them. Right now I believe Ford has at least 60 recalls, double anyone else. Their stocks are also down 62%. I do have a hybrid and like it's idea but am very nervous. A recall is coming in the 1st quarter for the Hybrids up to 2024 for problems with dieing 12v batteries, many have had to be replaced or need constant charging. My 24 has this problem.
This a really helpful - thank you

If I lived in Hawaii, I would find an excuse to own an electric vehicle. Never gets cold, so no cold-weather battery issues. You're not gonna do a 3,000 mile road trip. Gasoline on the island (last time I was there in USAF) is crazy expensive. It is the perfect place for a BEV.

A used Rivian? If you don't need small.

I do have an electric car but we need a truck as well as we're in a rural area. Can't justify a Rivian or a Lightening unfortunately.

Looks like if your truck has been in for repair for over 30 days it should qualify for your states Lemon law.
"
  1. 30 days presumption
  2. • you took your car in for repair for one or more nonconformities within the Lemon Law Rights Period and the total number of business days which the car was subject to examination or repair adds up to 30 or more days

Call a lemon law lawyer
They may take your case for no cost to you. I have one lined up for my hybrid dieing battery issue.

I was very, very close to making a case when my 22 hybird was in the dealer for 45 days. It was waiting for exhaust replacement parts. California has a very good lemon law that would have had Ford either refund the purchase price or replace the vehicle with a new equvilant.
I was fortunate that the dealer supplied me a new Jeep Gladiator Rubicon as a loaner truck for the entire period so I guess they did me right.

Still love the Maverick, we now have 3 in the family

I have a 24 Ecoboost and my son has a 23 hybrid. No issues for either except recalls. It sounds like yours may qualify as a lemon.

An update: They did have to replace the entire engine on my 2022; they said it was a result of a firmware update? Whatever - I'm glad there were a few weeks left on the warranty. However, the truck still wasn't right and we'd had so many issues we were just done. As it happened, the dealer did have one hybrid XLT coming in about a week after we got the truck back and we grabbed it.

What a difference! The 2025 XLT is a completely different experience from the 2022 XL. It's a much better truck in just about every way. I think our trade in was something like $4,000 less than what we paid for the 2022 originally, so $4,000 for three years of driving is not bad (trucks here in Hawaii hold their value crazy well). Anyway, happy we made the switch.

Sounds like you made the right choice. I've been pretty happy with my '25 Lariat hybrid AWD.

I really need a truck but I also really want an efficient vehicle. We got one of the very first Maverick Hybrid's off the line and it's been... not great. It's currently parked at the dealership where it's been for a month waiting for a part. It has fewer than 15,000 miles on it. This is its third long spell at the shop. Sadly the third problem was different from the first two so it's not *quite* a lemon. We've pretty much had it with this particular vehicle. Also, it's an XL and it turns out I really need a vehicle with cruise control. We're looking to trade it in for a new Maverick once all the things are fixed.

Do we go hybrid again, or is it "fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me?". Do we go ecoboost instead? Also muddying the waters, there are several ecoboosts available locally, but no hybrids until April or May. What had been other people's experience with the hybrid? Were we just really unlucky?
22K on my '23 Hybrid zero issues

I had a 2022 XLT Hybrid and had 0 issues after 42,000 miles aside from the recalls. My '25 Maverick isn't getting as good gas mileage, but I think it's primarily due to the cold weather. Good luck with yours.

Btw, which island are you on? I visited Kauai about a year ago and loved it. Not too much need for cruise control on Kauai. 🤣
