Nevermind that more of the Maverick is likely made in America than the Santa Cruz
I wouldn’t doubt it. I’d like to think by supporting domestic manufacturers I’d be supporting good jobs here. But even white collar jobs can be outsourced. So let’s not pretend that (insert company name here) wouldn’t move elsewhere as soon as it would save them a fraction of a percent on their quarterly earnings reports

Personal consumer choices aren’t huge pronouncements on the state of the world

Watch the video when Ford launched the F-150 Lightening.

Ford CEO Farley said that the consultants told Ford to abandon their huge Rouge plant as it was”out of date”… he made the decision to not only not abandon it, but to revitalize it as the heart of Lightning and other EV manufacturing for Ford.

Many do, but not all. Ford is also building the world’s largest battery plant for EVs right here in America!

Not only that, but more of the Mav highly-paid engineering, design, testing talent in America too vs. the Santa Cruz! That’s a lot of American jobs on top of the American components in the Mav!
Yes, because we all care more about supporting the wealthy than the working class ;)

I wouldn’t exactly call an engineer or a marketing manager a “wealthy” person. I’m one myself. Purely middle class. My point is, how many Americans are in the value chain of each company vs. where just the assembly line is?

Ideally, I wish the Mav was assembled at one of Ford’s American factories.. but I’ll bet most of the value in the product is in fact American

You have to get to the $37k SEL Premium for LED headlights? That has to be wrong
Nope. LED running lights standard. Halogen headlights standard. And you have to get the premium to get LED.

ford Definitely knows how to packed their tier list. Aside from no CC on base models. I love the trim list.
Ford has a MASSIVE R&D department and the pricing and structure is proof of that.

I own a 2019 Ridgeline RTL-E. The capabilities SUCK! It has LESS capabilities than a top of the line Mav. It is a soccer-mom mobile with a bed on the back. Same as the Santa Cruz.

The Honda Ridgeline has ZERO off-road capability whereas the Mav has a full FX4 package available. (Honda’s such a wimpy company they don’t even make skid plates for them!)

Go on any forum and read about the notorious transmission overheating problems with the Ridgeline.

Honda says it can pull 5,000 lb, but my transmission will overheat on a hot summer day pulling my 3900 lb boat/trailer. Meanwhile the 2014 AWD Escape we had that had a limit of only 3500 lb did not have this problem and was quite happy in spite of the extra weight.

Hyundai not being a truck company probably made all the mistakes Honda did in terms of towing, etc. I’m sure it’s a jumble of parts from their SUV parts bin, as opposed to Ford’s truck parts bin.

if you look at the payload and bed capacity of the Ridgeline vs. Mav, you’ll see that oddly they’re the same/similar in spite of the size/price difference..
Per Wikipedia "As an engine manufacturer, Honda has won six World Constructors' Championships, five World Drivers' Championships and over 80 Grands Prix, ranking fifth in Formula One history. In addition to their success as an engine manufacturer, their three Grand Prix wins as a team owner make them the only Japanese or Asian team to win in Formula One." May not be off-roaders, but hardly wimpy.

Pointless in this discussion… we are taking about trucks

Meanwhile:

A (nearly) bone-stock 2017 Ford Raptor conquered the Baja 1000 with seconds to spare

Along with all of Ford’s other rankings in the Baja 1000

Was described as a "wimpy company", not specified as a truck company. Can't imagine a lot of offroading in a unibody Ridgeline, Maverick, or Santa Cruz. Not to take anything from Ford, I've previously owned and still have a Ford.

Then why can’t Honda get more Horses and torque out of that sluggish pig 6 in my Ridgeline? 💁🏼‍♂️

Rumors abound about an off-road Maverick.. Ford did it w the Bronco Sport Badlands… and Ford Authority already doing Mav Raptor renderings..

So Hyundai FINALLY dropped the pricing of the Hyundai. (After Destination) the Hyundai starts about $3,700 over Maverick and tops out $7,000+++ over a loaded Maverick. At that point you could get a loaded Hyundai Santa Fe Calligraphy or Ford Edge Titanium. Or better yet. Ford Ranger Supercrew 4x4 Lariat Lux package. Seams like Hyundai dropped the ball.

Should I go with company known for their trucks or a company building their first...🤔

I’ll go with the company that’s been building pickup Trucks for 104 years. Nearly 2x as long as Hyundai has been an Auto Maker.
