Ford is a GLOBAL company, not just American. It sells and BUILDS vehicles in multiple countries around the globe. Import/Export laws are a nightmare to navigate when building something as big as a vehicle. Ever hear of NAFTA? Or Trump renegotiating it to get AMERICA a better deal? It's a North American trade agreement with USA, Mexico and Canada. Much of it deals with vehicle production and tariff deals between the 3 countries along with worker pay and benefits in each of the 3 countries. Ford is obligated to build a certain % of vehicles in Mexico under the treaty for import to USA and other regions. Economics plays a large role in this as always. The maverick is made in Mexico. Sorry but I can’t overlook that. The Hyundai will be made in Alabama. I’ll pay more all day for that. When I think Ford I think Detroit American iron. Not Mexico.
Sorry Ford NO sale.
watAnd the Santa Cruz doesn't have any towing option
Captain John Sheridan wouldn't have made that mistakeMy bad I was looking at the comparison sheet it does have towing
There are some of us who really don't look at things like towing capacity or bed load capacity. If I were concerned about things like that I'd be looking at a real truck. So long as the vehicle can haul my butt down the road, some groceries, maybe a few bikes in the back or some gardening stuff back from Home Depot I'll be happy. I'll compare the ride, the seat comfort, the looks, and perhaps the conveniences. Certainly the price. But since I'm not planning to tow anything or tote heavy stuff, those specs don't matter to me.Doubtful… look at Honda Ridgeline sales. Anemic.. Honda sold just 32,000 in 2020. And that was with the automotive press giving it accolades..
The SC is to the Ridgeline what the Mav is to the Ranger (and Ford sold over 101,000 of the Ranger in 2020)
Payload capacity is 90 lb LESS than the Mav, (1410 vs. 1500) and towing is 1,000 lb MORE than the Mav. at the top end (5,000 vs. 4,000)
Also, the SC has absolutely no off-road chops (like the Ridgeline) which immediately takes away about 20-25% of the buyers.
This is hilariously closed mined. You should probably rid your house made of anything not constructed in the U.S.A.The maverick is made in Mexico. Sorry but I can’t overlook that. My point is, there are not enough buyers for that kind of vehicle to be successful from a volume manufacturer. Just look to my current vehicle (2019 Ridgeline RTL-E) as Exhibit A… Honda has been trying to sell buyers on the concept since 2014.There are some of us who really don't look at things like towing capacity or bed load capacity. It’s all fun & games until it’s your livelihood that gets outsourced! This is hilariously closed mined. You should probably rid your house made of anything not constructed in the U.S.A.

Tell me what car is 100% made in USA? MAYBE Tesla? Doubt the batteries are all American. It’s all fun & games until it’s your livelihood that gets outsourced!
You are probably right about Tesla, maybe wrong about the batteries? I know they have their own battery plants in the US as well, so it is more likely that the raw materials would be the only outsourced component (not really a job lost at that point, can't make raw material it of thin air!)Tell me what car is 100% made in USA? The current title holder is the Ford Ranger at 95%+ Tesla 3 is a close 3rd. Cobalt from other markets as well as processors and such hurt it’s scoreTell me what car is 100% made in USA? MAYBE Tesla? Doubt the batteries are all American.
the problem with the Ridgeline is it’s $40,000 the price of a decently equipped Fseries or a LOADED Ranger. My point is, there are not enough buyers for that kind of vehicle to be successful from a volume manufacturer. tbf most of the time there is leeway in the payload and towing numbers. I'd personally never try to exceed it but there is usually give and take. I doubt the truck would not drive because your payload is like 200lb over, though damaging something is possible"Payload is the combined weight of all passengers and cargo" This applies to the Maverick as well. You cannot place 1500 pounds in the bed of the Maverick and expect to drive it anywhere as the driver would be the straw that breaks the camel's back by exceeding the rated payload capacity of the Maverick. Look, full disclosure, I've ordered a Maverick XLT Hybrid in Cyber Orange. But let's be reasonable here, splitting hairs over payload capacity isn't winning anyone an award.
