Where are you mounting your phone in 2025 Maverick now that the cubby is gone?

But I guess that market was tapped - the cheapskates - we got our $23,000 trucks . Now they are going after the kind of people who want more bells and whistles and will even pay more for certain colors of paint.
Yup exactly. And I'm a sucker for those haha

Does anyone know if there's a way to use the "coin holder" space above the screen to install a phone mount that extends to the right side of the new, larger screen. I like being able to easily see the phone screen while driving

What is it you're looking at on your phone while you're driving?
It must be a generational thing.
I'm in my 60s - but it was my generation that implemented computers and smart phones so I don't not believe in them. I understand them and I use them. I work with them.
When I'm driving the maps from my phone go on to the car screen. So do my contacts send and receive phone calls and I don't really even look at that when I drive.

But I do think it's a generational thing.
When I'm riding my motorcycle every young person I see riding a motorcycle has got their phone mounted so that they can see it.
I just can't imagine doing that on my motorcycle.

Mainly, I like having the road in my field of view at all times. I notice that when my phone is not mounted, there are times when I'll look down to check it (at a red light or when driving slowly)

I use the mounted phone for small things, here and there. For example:

- When using google maps, I like having the step by step written directions next to the screen so I can glance at them
- For music, I'll often switch the song (at a red light)
- For youtube, I'll play/search a song and, unlike regular music app, I can't do this with siri so I need to type it out (at a red light)
- For messages, I like being able to read the message at glance from the always-on-iphone-display (at a red light). I find the "read aloud" voice feature of carplay to be annoying

I'm picking mine up Thursday. With the wireless android auto/car play, figured I'd leave it on the wireless charger
I tried my wireless charger when I first got my truck and my phone seemed to run hot on it. I don't think the coils line up right on these charging pads. It will kill your battery faster if your phone runs hot, so I got a Magsafe charger that mounts on the vents and use a grid that mounts on the cubby next to the display. If I had a 25 I think I would just plug it in when I needed to charge it and use wireless carplay in the 25s

Yeah I didn't want to seem rude or like an old man yelling at the kids to stay off my grass - but I agree.

When I'm bitching at the way people drive - no turn signals, waiting until the last moment to verve over, blowing stop signs, drifting into other lanes - my wife tells me to relax, that most people don't take driving as seriously as I do.
What?
What could be more serious?
The real ability to kill someone so easily.
Even pedestrians don't seem to be able to cross a busy street without looking at their phone the whole time.
Put your phone down and drive - or walk.

OK, maybe I'm dull, but why not use the built in "Phone Holder" that is in the same location as the 22-24 models?
That's what I've always used. With Android Auto or CarPlay, there is almost no reason to need the phone screen visible.

I used to mount my phone in cubby section. Now I'm not sure where the best position would be :/
In the stand provided in the console [Lariat]. In the cupholder, with the screen facing me. However, since it is paired with my Sync3, I can use either the steering wheel mounted control or tap the screen to answer.

This is going to way better with wireless CarPlay/Android Auto now! I use it all the time in my'22 but the phone is always upside down because I can't figure out how to make it fit with the cord plugged in.

Yep, mine is usually upside down as well. Doesn't bother me a bit.
