After all this time and updates, the AM radio still is turning itself on automatically

After all the recalls and updates on sync, I still run into the issue that the radio turns itself on automatically at startup at random times. What's worse is that it is on AM. I don't even listen to the radio. And it won't turn off with the audio button. The only way to shut it off is to power off the truck, open up the driver door, and close it again and restart the truck.

Does anyone have a solution for this?

Mine does the same. Not always, mind you, but yeah, it is a mystery. I just push the knob to turn it off. I can live with it, but not having the ability to turn it off would be a major annoyance. I'm guessing your dealer hasn't a clue. I know this is a shot in the dark, but have you tried pulling the fuse for the radio, run the truck and then reinstall? You know, the old, turn off/on hack? Good luck. Let us know.

You want to make sure that you're on the latest Sync 3 update. I'm about 99.99% this will fix the issue.

what I’m saying is that the truck was shut off with no radio playing. No audio period. Turn it on, am radio.

I have a 23 lariat. About a yr ago when I would start the truck, the radio would come on. Also, my backup camera would stay on even when I was driving forward. The dealer replaced something behind the center screen and it's been fine since.

I had that problem which the dealer corrected by updating the software. Works fine now.,

My 22 Maverick Lariat and 21 Mustang Premium both do this. Sync updates don't fix it.

The radio will turn itself on about a minute into the drive, every drive. It wouldn't be so bad if the radio volume wasn't way louder than all other audio inputs. I have to turn the volume to zero before unplugging my phone every time-- it's absurd.
