very seriously considering getting a GFC camper when I get my '25, but with the installation of it, it basically nfegates any radio reception from the antenna.

anyone swapped out the antenna to the "in fender" style?

thinking I may have to do something like this if I want to continue listening to the radio in my truck...

thoughts?

seriously? guess I'm not the only one with a propensity to have a stick up my butt

perhaps you should improve your reading comprehension and actually READ what is being asked rather than assuming I'm asking something I"m not

Not "in fender", but many of us use a stubby antenna. Like this one:

I"ve noticed that, but I believe that the GFC, not only sits low enough to the cab that it would hit that, AND, with the metal of the gfc, I've heard (and gfc clearly states this on their web site) it renders the cab-top antenna basically useless...why I'm asking about an in-fender soultion

I understand your question. :p

I don't think what you want to do has been done before. There are a few other threads where people had the same idea, but if it was taken to completion, I don't see that it was documented.

I did see in another thread where someone used a ditch light bracket and mounted a "GMRS" antenna to that. It's probably what I would do if I were in your situation, simply because it is non-destructive and reversible. Cable routing from the area under the hood and through get firewall should be rather easy. I have never shopped FM antennas, but I assume you can find all kinds of stuff that will bolt to a horizontal slotted bracket. Good luck.

any difference in the reception with the stubby? I can imagine I'll get not much when my rtt is installed, but iwthout it, I'd still like to ocasionally listen to the radio

also, in trying to determine the height rack I'm going to need ot clear the antenna, has anyone taken a measurement from the bed rail(s) to the top of the antenna (standard & stubby measurements would be GREAT!)
