Ford Maverick Eco & Sport Mode activation on Tremor Maverick - Review and Engine Sound Comparison tempImage0bC1fC

I don't think Eco is worth it on the Tremor, and do not believe it will do much for mileage unless you literally spend all your time constantly stopping and accelerating from zero. Most of the extra fuel consumption comes from additional weight, tires, more driveline components, and increased drag from the front fascia and underbody - none of which can be solved by electronically altering responsiveness.

On the other hand, it is noticeably more sedate and even laggy to the point where it detracts from the driving experience. The Tremor's weight and wheels do not lend themselves to cutting the acceleration curve, and I think Ford was probably right to exclude it from the Tremor. There is not a lot of value added here for its big hit to driving dynamics.

Sport mode is fun, and a worthwhile addition to the Tremor button. The effect is well documented on other Mavericks already - primarily a more responsive acceleration curve and delayed upshift points. The 2.0 ecoboost is rowdy and lends itself well to this treatment, so it's nice to have in the quiver.

What is not often highlighted, though, is that Ford adds Active Sound Enhancement (fake engine noise) to Sport. Other reviews have pointed this out for the FX4/Tremor off-road modes, and this makes sense as having engine feedback can be useful for gauging torque and traction. On the road, however, I just found it annoying and felt it cheapened the driving experience. I most often drive listening to music and podcasts, or on a conference call, and the last thing I need is more noise piped in. Coming from BMW and Volvo, I find it silly that the feeling of more power and torque needs to be accompanied by more rowdiness. But having driven a Charger for awhile, I also get the appeal.

So I think I will keep Sport for truly spirited driving situations, and leave it in Normal for everyday use - which in the Tremor does not feel all that much softer (when compared to the difference in other Mavericks). I even wonder if Normal in the Tremor has a more aggressive tune than other trims to compensate for weight and drag, which lessens the difference in dynamics between the two modes.

Here's a quick audio comparison I filmed this morning from inside the cabin. With headphones, you can clearly hear the dual mid- and high-frequency harmonics of the ecoboost in Normal, and then the added third bass frequency that Ford adds to Sport mode. It's nice and growly in the parking lot, quickly gets tiring for me on the road, but fun to have on the button.

Someone should make a list of all the parameters that can be changed/adjusted by using Forscan in the Maverick.

I second that!

Someone show me how to deactivate the start stop function via Forscan. I've already done the Eco/Sport addition...

So, does adding a subwoofer enhance the sport mode?

I wonder if a Kicker Key would help or just make a mess?

Is it possible to add the Active Sound Enhancement to ECO for funzies?

My 2022 FX4 does not have any of that fake engine noise in the speakers. I just got my forscan cable and software ready - if I add Sport Mode is it going to start making those sounds in my speakers? Where can we disable that in Forscan?

XLT Eco Lux defineitely does not have active sound. I wish it did. I had it on my Lincoln MKC. It make the 2.0 sound like a V6 in the inside.

Well, I confirmed this today.

Powered up half my new audio system - head unit to a 9-channel DSP and Kicker subwoofer, and I can confirm that the active sound enhancement gets obnoxiously loud. Like, under the hood of a 70s Lamborghini loud. Window-rattling loud.

Right now, it's mainly due to the fact my DSP and amp have a much higher sensitivity than the factory head, so everything is too loud including the happy song and touchscreen alerts. De-equalizing and setting levels properly should bring all that noise back in line. But just wanted to confirm - it does play through whatever audio equipment you have installed.

Hey, I wanted to follow up with you again as I got the OBD cable and downloaded Forscan. Unfortunately, after spending about an hour with it, I can't seem to connect it to my Maverick. I feel I have found the directions from the YouTube video you linked, but for whatever, it just says no connection in the bottom left portion of the screen and it doesn't see my truck. Any ideas or help you can offer? Thanks for all you do

Possibly a dumb question....

Will adding these modes via Forscan do anything to warranty?

Have a maverick tremor - and there are no fake engine noises for some reason - thank goodness!

This is why I haven’t bothered with any of the forscan stuff, mostly nonsense. Like I’ve done tweaks like this to a jailbroken iPhone, but doing untested tweaks to a multi-$10k vehicle is unwise. At least now it’s tested and proven to be mostly useless.

Also, the auto start stop is just one button, like the AC. It’s easy to turn off, no one needs a forscan for that.

I'd love to have color coordinated interior lighting that matches the drive mode color.
