Ok so I’m labeling this an upgrade because I’m sure thinking it will be.

I swapped out my factory rotors and pads with EBC Yellowstuff. I’ve had very good luck with these pads in the past and they have the best feel of any pad I’ve had ever. Including my expensive race pads. They just wear out to fast for full track use.

Now not only was this a very simple job but the rear ebc pads provide significantly more surface area than factory rear pads. So not only should the pads themselves be better but the added area should help. I’ll be hauling a trailer through the mountains for this week on a 14 hour haul. So time will tell.

Im going to be doing pads in my Lobo soon. I like having a strong initial bite.

I have Hawk HPS 5.0s in my Fiesta right now and I love those, but funny enough I have some blank rotors and yellow stuff pads to throw on the Fiesta soon....haha

Perfect timing as I’m starting to notice some brake fade on my almost 40k miles Mav. I’m on one of my longish trips so I’ll get this done later in the summer.
Thanks for the helpful post!

Did you have any issues with brake creep groan with factory pads?

I have run those but moved to cobalt friction. They have insane bite but it’s not linear like I like. For street use you will really like yellows or blue. I run the blue on a lot on my Mazdas.

I believe so. I don’t seem to care or notice but it did have some noise with factory but I decided it was always after I got a car wash and I assumed it was some kinda coati g spray

It appears your pics are rear and front, Appears the pads had a big difference in wear, even if actually inner/outer on the rear.
Any ideas why?

?
the 2 pics I see I would assume are the same pads in 2 different angles, and you can't really assess pad thickness from the first pic, only the side profile in the second pic.

The front pads are 65% larger than the rears.

For sure not the same pad. Squealer on springed inner, and raised tab on other plate I assumed was front, but now could be front or back outer.

That 1st pic appeared to be a wear groove almost gone, compared to the 2nd pic showing the wear groove actually wider than the Yellow pad, and obviously not worn much at all. Just highlights how thin the 1st pic shows that groove, in normal circumstances that would mean the pad is almost gone.

After the product pic's from Phimosis, I see the top of the plate is different just between inner & outer pads, both for front and back.

So I'm still wondering, if that is obviously back inner pad, and either back outer or front outer - seems to be very uneven wear.

No both rear one I side one outside. The pads were very close in wear nothing that caught my eye out of the ordinary. My rear pads were more wore than the front but I believe that was because all the off-road stuff I do causes the abs in the rear to constantly be working and that causes wear. Other than that everything looked fine on my breaks

It’s just the angel and the amount of debris in that groove . One was inner one was outer both wore about the same. But wanted to show both inner and outer were bigger than factory

I’m sure someone has I found a guy on rumble that did it. Looks to just be standard brake job.

Took a 6 hour work trip today mainly highway. So far these brakes definitely smooth out and seem to have much better bite than factory. Now I haven’t gotten into them super hard but I drive pretty aggressively so I will. Hauled a smaller trailer a few miles and seem to like the feel. Can’t wait for a better review hauling a 13 hr trip through the mountains later this week
