Completed my first Maverick Hybrid oil change 20 July 2024. Bought my Maverick new on 11 Apr 2023. So, a little over 15 months on the oil (more if you consider transit time from the factory). 2535 miles on oil and vehicle. Suburb driving mostly with speeds usually below 60 mph. I decided to go all in on the oil life monitor (OLM), even with factory oil. It took 15 months vs the 12 months I was expecting for the OLM to drop to 0% oil life. I did spend a few months overseas and left the Maverick in my garage with the 12 volt battery disconnected. Not sure if it had any effect on the OLM. I’ve been using oil analysis on four different vehicles. I’m familiar with the process and trust the results so far. Blackstone did the oil analysis and the results look fine. I think I’ll continue to use the OLM vs time and/or mileage based Intervals. Based on Blackstone’s analysis I could have driven much, much farther on this oil. I’m not ready to exceed the OLM 0% oil life indication, yet. However, if future oil labs remain normal, I may push it further.

Dig the results BUT it is really, really good practice to change the engine oil in anything that needs engine oil in no more than one year's time regardless of mileage.

Your rig, your oil, your wallet. Just mentioning it for others here that it conventional wisdom when it comes to motor oil.

Only 2500 miles in 15 months???
If I drove that infrequently I'd own a Hellcat, not a Hybrid.
I'm averaging closer to 20K a yr.
just did first oil change at 10,100...with 30% life left. I'll run it longer going forward, probably until it gets closer to 10% life left range.
Thank You for the oil test specs.

I totally agree. Especially the break-in oil and tiny OEM filter they install at the factory. And also any vehicle under warranty.

Once out-of-warranty, I plan to stick to the OLM calculations for my Hybrid.

Blackstone testing intrigues me. I'm an old guy and I change my oil pretty often and have preached that you simply have to change it at least once a year no matter the mileage, but I also believe in science and if Blackstone doesn't see anything wrong with my oil then why would I change it?

I changed my hybrid Mav's oil at 2K, 5K, 10K and just the other day at 15K, but now I'm thinking I'm just padding the dealers pocket book. I'm going to have Blackstone test the oil at 20K and see how the results turn out.

Thanks for the info. It's very useful. I average close to 100 miles a day. My milage is at 5500 and I still have over 50% oil life. I've had this Maverick since June 24 this year, so less than two months. Thank you

I split my mileage between 4 vehicles. 2000 Ford Ranger. 2014 F53 Class A RV, 2022 Nissan Leaf, and the 2023 Mav.

I've been suspect of the calendar change wisdom but would like to understand. I've seen change every 6 months or xxxx miles, whichever comes first. What happens to the oil if say I just drive 3000 miles in one year? Would oil analysis show it has broken down in viscosity and additives?

But I'm wondering why that is? I'm not saying it isn't true but with a high quality full synthetic oil with 1,000 miles on it and 14 months it needs changed?

Excuse my ignorance but how does the oil life monitor calculate percentage left? I would imagine what that low mileage the engine oil would be in better shape than that even after more than a year. Does it also factor in time?

Hmmm, I assume the timer clock does not run when battery is not connected and doesn't update over the air??????
