Ford knows about it and is working on a software patch...

Oct 21 2022 2022 Maverick - 2.5L FHEV - Brakes Grab During Light Braking When Applied At OrBelow 6.2 Mph (10 Km/h)
Some 2022 Maverick vehicles equipped with a 2.5L full hybrid electric vehicle (FHEV) powertrain may exhibit a condition where the brakes may grab during light braking at or below 6.2 mph (10 km/h). This may be due to the software in the anti-lock brake system module (ABS). This condition does not affect vehicle safety/performance and no additional diagnosis or service is required for this condition at this time. Inform customers that they can continue to safely drive the vehicle, and engineering is currently developing a software update that is expectedin the last week of November 2022. Once the software update is available, contact the customer and schedule a follow-up appointment for repair in December 2022. Monitor OASIS for updates

But I was told by a large number of keyboard warriors that I don't know how to drive a hybrid. How can Ford being fixing an issue that doesn't exist? /s Anyways, this is great, the braking issue was really my only gripe after having mine for 6 months. Getting this and all the recalls scheduled will be the fun part.

Really great to see this. I know it will make a lot of people very happy. The only problem is that although I experienced this a few times in the first few months, it has all but gone away now. And I'm not sure if I should consider getting the patch or not. 🤷‍♂️

Maybe the person who wrote the notice also wrote the software?

Yes Mr. "GpsMan" can eat a little crow.
"It's the wet, the rust, or maybe the "cold" (and that's 55 compared to 85) had something to do with it. Again, starting out, grabby first thing. After a few stops, no more."

I will get the patch. The brake grabbing is intermittent. I have 8200 miles on mine and have gone hundreds of miles without it happening and then it may happen once or several times in an hour. So most likely is a software issue. Observation:. Leaving foot on pedal with very very little hardly touching will after several seconds will cause the brakes to slam on. Discovered this while trying to slowly stop exactly in a particular place while in creep mode.

I have the same issue with my hybrid. I took it in and they said nothing was wrong with it, it is good to see other people having the same issue and that they might do something about it. It seems like the transition from the generative breaking to the hydraulic breaking And yes it only happens under 6 mph

4750 miles so far. Both me and the wife did notice it on occasion. Days or weeks between incidents. Can't recreate it regularly, but it's at such a low speed so it's definitely not as jolting as any higher.

Mine exhibits the brake issue every so often but not always when driving slow. I haven't figured out a pattern, though I think I can tell when it MIGHT happen now. It seems like if you ease up on the pressure when it's about to happen (not always possible, I realize!) then you can avoid it. However, if you must stop or hit the vehicle in front, it seizes suddenly. My wife comments on it when it happens -- it occurred last night when pulling into a parking spot, and she thought I hit something.

Good to hear that Ford is working on a fix.

This is an issue I have had from the start. You do learn how to avoid it (most of the time) but it is embarrassing when you have people in the car. They are like WTF was that?

Will this be an OTA update, or will you have to go to the dealer? Speaking of OTA updates, what actually gets updated that way? I read on here sometime ago that it only will update the radio. Is that true? If so that is disappointing.

Vehicle-wide OTA updates are only a Sync 4 thing, AFAIK. Even then I think there's been a few revisions where Ford instructed going to the dealer to get reprogrammed sooner as the OTA wouldn't be immediately available.

I was hoping you @Darnon would answer that question. Thank you for the reply. I don't have sync so I should not get any OTA updates, correct?
