Low miles on many of them. Hertz either has decided to stop renting Mavericks based on demand or since they are hybrids battery issues maybe? Seems odd to be selling off new low milage rentals.

I bought two vehicles from Enterprise and they were close to the factory warranty mileage. (Still have one and the other had close to 200k when I sold it) Unless Hertz got a good deal on other vehicles and decided to dump the mavs even with the low mileage?

Rental vehicles get tortured.
And when serviced the cheapest oil goes in.
I’d pass.

Some of these probably have not reached their first oil change interval from those I looked at. Also, appear the be hybrid AWD and no 4k XLT's.

They show a "hertz price" and then a cash price of $2500 higher on the couple I glanced at. Don't quite get that, but I didn't dig any deeper. Sounds equivalent to dealer bullshit to me.

I bought a Plymouth Sebring from Payless, Ford Windstar minivan from Thrifty car rental Las Vegas and my Buick Encore from Hertz San Diego Never had any problems with them.
Full maintenance records were included. Something I've never gotten buying privately or from a dealership.

If you have to buy a used car.
This my theory on buying rental cars versus privately owned used cars.

I agree, buying a mustang, Challenger, Charger... etc. Those cars have a higher chance of being beat as a rental by a some jerk.
If you're looking at a SUV or a minivan or even a Ford Maverick chances are every renter isn't going to abuse it. I would guess very few actually.
At least the rental company keeps up on maintenance. A broken out of service rent a car isn't making money.
Let's talk about buying a used car that was owned by an A-hole.
You've seen these jerks driving on the street. Every stoplight is a street race.
Constantly changing lanes on the expressway to beat everybody.
Chances are that car is driven like 💩 everyday. One can only guess if the maintenance was taken care of.
Sooner or later that car is going to be for sale on Craigslist, Facebook MP, AutoTrader or at your local car Dealership.

Remember it's a new age for rental cars with trackers. Their usage or abusage are tracked by rent a car companies and the insurance. Our Mavericks have self reporting.

They treat rental cars like shit because it's not theirs.
Sad to say the folks that treat rental cars like crap, are probably the same jerks and a-holes that treat their own cars like crap EVERYDAY.

Some of those appear to be good deals. Others not as much.

I think hertz price means you finance thru them - on a 25k truck if they're getting 8-10 percent on financing then they're realizing 2K+ in financing profit annually, if you're paying cash they're not making that profit so they jack up the price up front on cash sales to make up some of the difference. Basically they are offering the truck at a discount if you finance thru them in the hopes and dreams that you'll sign up for a 5 year loan and make a bundle on financing - it's an incentive to get you to buy via their financing arm.

When I bought my Encore through Hertz, I financed it. Made sure there wasn't a prepayment penalty. Paid it off on the first payment.🤷‍♂️ Easy peasy.
I never called to see if it was in stock. I flew to San Diego rented a car and drove to Hertz Kearny Mesa lot. Ends up I had 4 Encores to choose from.
Too many times I've call a dealership to see if an advertised vehicle was in stock, they would say yes. When I got there. I was told, it was JUST SOLD.

Agree.

But they are not "low miles" really.

They are 7000 to 17,000 miles in 6 months.

So you might surmise mostly highway miles?

Financing is 6.89% with them if you have a good credit score.

They give you 3 days "no pressure" take it home and drive it however you like try before you buy period to fully check it out. I like that.

Cash & Finance same price within $50 with a good credit score.

My friend owned the regional Thrifty rental franchise. He HATED to rent trucks out. Invariably it was someone hauling too much crap, overloading the springs etc.

My guess is Hertz experimented with the tiny bed figuring it would not be abused like an F-150. My guess is it was, hence they're dumping them. "Dump" is the operative term here, rental companies pay a fraction of what we pay.

At one time I believe Ford owned Hertz

Correct, Ford owned Hertz from 1987 until 2005, that's why during that period their rentals were almost exclusively Ford's.
