Hey everyone!

I have come to the conclusion that if you add the wireless battery powered keypad you must use FDRS (or go to the dealer, it will probably be cheaper)! I have never used FDRS but I figured I would give it a try! I bought a two day subscription for $50 on motorcraftservice.com. You MUST use a different OBD reader than the ELM327 adapter for FORScan! The cheapest options are a used Ford VCM ii for about $150 or the VCX NANO for FORD for $125 on amazon. You may need to download specific drivers for the J2534 OBD adapter you are using. There are not many options for OBD adapters and most of the options are very expensive...thousands of dollars... I hope to use FDRS again in the future now that I purchased an VCX NANO OBD adapter for it!

FDRS is somewhat challenging to get set up. The servers can be iffy at first, you must have internet access and you must log into an active Ford account as an independent user. Here is a link below to help with getting FDRS set up.

FDRS HOW TO VIDEO

After getting FDRS setup and connected to your vehicle, you now can set up your wireless keypad. You will start by choosing Toolbox. Then BCM. Then choose Remote Keyless Entry Pad. Now just follow the instructions until they are complete. This link below helped walk me through this process step by step. Big thanks to this guy and his videos.

What are the other potential uses for FDRS in the future? It seems cost prohibitive and time consuming as opposed to paying the $24 for Ford to do it for you.

I understand where you are coming from and I had the same thought. FDRS will be useful in the future for anything key programming related and for the other things FORScan cannot accomplish. Many people were not able to get Ford Dealerships to honor that cheap of an install. Ford Accessories Install prices are very misleading.. Several dealerships near me wanted over $100 for just the install. So, I will do it myself! and now I have FDRS for later uses. Honestly, it is a DEAL having dealer level software for under $200. Many shops are using the exact same software and they pay thousands for the OBD adapter and subscriptions.

Ah, okay I understand then. Had my dealer not accepted the $24 and wanted $100 or more I would have considered this then also. Thanks for the explanation.

The dealer in Casper Wyoming wanted 220.00 to program the keyless entry if I purchased it from them! I will try another dealer before I give up and forget about it.

That's crazy they are charging that much money but they know you are kind of forced to go to them or do what I did. It probably takes them 10 minutes max to install it for $220... lol

Not forced to buy it. Ford is losing money due to dealers gouging people. I will do without it if someone doesn't quote me a reasonable install price. FMC are you listening???

Went and had the dealer program my eBay keypad for 11,000 Ford Points and was in and out in about 40min.

Totally love it. Can lock my key in the truck while hiking, going to the gym, or whatever, and know I can get in. Don't worry about the Ford Pass having cellular coverage anymore.

It can also be used to upgrade any of the module firmware.
https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/f...im-levels-and-options-found-by-forscan.11122/

If there is a recall that is fixed by new firmware, Ford will do the upgrade for free. If there is a major bug that does not cause a safety issue then Ford may upgrade the firmware for free. But if there is a feature enhancement or minor bug fix, Ford will allow the dealers to do an upgrade but they will charge the customer.
