Does anyone have information regarding Price Protection on the X-Plan?

My Maverick just got to the dealer and I've been working with them on figuring out financing, but they seem to be having trouble getting in contact with Ford to clarify how to provide me with a Price Protected X-Plan.

I've seen Tim's video on general price protection, but he didn't have any details specific to combining it with X-Plan. As of now, my dealer is claiming that they can only produce an X-Plan invoice at the new increased prices, and would have to stick to that until they hear from corporate.

I'm curious about this also. My understanding is that you either pay the price-protected MSRP on the original price OR get X-Plan on the new pricing. I suppose it depends on the trim level and options you chose as to which is the better deal.

Search for x-plan with thread title. You should have a pin# for your x-plain or need to call them for it. 800 348 7709

To me this doesn't make sense since it would mean that there are certain customers that would have to pay more due to Ford's delay in building the vehicles. I think they've shown enough good faith in how they've handled the price protection from price increases and order issues like the 4k Tow on FWD vehicles that I don't believe this to be the case.

I have a pin generated and provided to dealer already. Problem is that dealer isn't able to generate an invoice that's price protected w/ X-Plan.
I've tried looking through multiple threads and I've only seen some people claim that their dealers will honor the price-protected X-Plan but noone that has actually purchased as such yet.

I don't know if you watch @fordvideoguy 's livestreams on YouTube, but he indicated that the Price-Protection system they use is independent of the X-Plan discount, therefore the two are incompatible with each other. Believe me, I would love to be able to combine those two, but I don't think the dealers are allowed to.

Ideally, you would've mentioned X-Plan at the time of order and then your documents from the dealer (e.g. a Preview Order printout from WBDO) would show MSRP and X-Plan. If you don't have that, then your dealer will need to work with Ford to determine the X-Plan pricing at the price level from the time you ordered. My paperwork shows MSRP and AZ-Plan pricing, so I'm good to go there even though the price level increased and my vehicle on order still hasn't been built yet.

Price protection means the dealer buys the vehicle from Ford at the original price, not the new, higher price. X-Plan is based on dealer invoice, so if the dealer pays the lower invoice price, since X-Plan is a set price they can't charge you more than, you should be entitled to that original X-Plan price. But you'll need your dealer to get that number and work with Ford on the price protection claim.

Wasn't aware of X-Plan when I originally ordered.

I then followed up with dealer and requested to use X-Plan, and they said that they would accept it at time of delivery and not to worry about it then.

I'd say your lucky your dealer is even offering to accept the x plan. This is a voluntary plan the dealer doesn't have to accept and that clearly states, you must inform dealer at the first transaction.

My dealer showed my x plan pricing right on the order preview. Had to call 3 dealers in a 30 miles radius to find one that would accept it.

If they do price protection and x plan, you have a great dealer by today's standards. This used to be the way all dealers treated customers. Sad how things have changed in just a few years.

Please let us know what the outcome is for your Maverick purchase with the x plan. I’m curious about where the dealership is located also

No worries, just meant to say the whole process is easier from the start if you know and ask about it. In your case, you learned about it after you ordered; it's all good.

If you had known and asked about it when you ordered, the order would have been written up with X-Plan pricing from the start. Also, dealers are not required to honor AZXD plans at all; they can also choose to only honor it on specific vehicles if they wish, so it's important to have it in writing that they will accept X-Plan when the truck comes in. That way you don't get any surprises after the long way. But it sounds like you have in writing that they'll honor X-Plan, so they just need to get the correct pricing (they should be able to calculate it - it's a formula based on dealer invoice price).

I picked up my Maverick yesterday (8 Mar) and we went back and forth about X-plan. Sales manager insisted that the x-plan was just that "the x-plan" and that's what I got. I did not mention x-plan when I ordered so this was a surprise to him, and yes I do understand that they could have denied me because of this.

I don't believe he fully utilized the vincent(weather intentional or not) that @fordvideoguy mentioned because the final offer had a 225 price level vs 220 when I ordered it. I pointed out that I should be price protected and my salesman shut down on me and was no help. And then when I received the payment break down the zero/36 month offer wasn't on the sheet. I said nope I'm price protected to the offers that were available at the time I ordered. Re printed the paperwork again and had the zero/36 month offer.

So did I get what I should or could have as far as the final price? I feel I did not, but I also had no crazy mark up, no BS window etching, no interior protection etc. that I would have been more pissed about.

I'm really happy to be an owner of a new Maverick and took my first 60 mile trip to check it out today.(love it) Its just that sometimes it's so frustrating being prepared and knowledgeable of a process and still feel like you just got punched in the gut.

I'll find out, hopefully in less than two weeks, if I can use X-Plan with the price protected MSRP. I mentioned X-Plan when I ordered in July and was told that would be handled when I purchased the truck.

If they say they cannot apply it, my plan is to at least try and get the $100 Doc fee that X-Plan limits. That way I can also use the $500 Cash Back Farm Bureau offer, may actually save more money this way.

When I sent my x-plan plan to my salesman, a week or so later I asked for and received a new order sheet from my salesman showing the x-plan price. But who knows if there may be some gotchas further along.
