This thread great info. I was thinking about buying 100 shares of F so I could get in on this but it doesn't seem like it's worth the trouble unless I just already had it in my portfolio.
If you’re a veteran, join Disabled American Veterans (DAV). It’s $300 for life of the membership. You get several benefits including the X-Plan. There is no waiting period for it either. That’s what I did.

If you do the math and find that there is about $78 you can't explain, that is due to the fuel charge. While it shows as $0 under MSRP, on the Dealer invoice it shows up as around $78 or so. I personally have NEVER knowingly paid for fuel on a new vehicle but under X-plan this seems to be non-negotiable since it is a listed as a factory invoice item. Just one of he quirks of the system since X-plan is based on Invoice and not MSRP.

lol....I thought that too, but did it anyway, back when it was about $8/share. Laughing all the way to the bank now! 🤭

Buying in via Ford shares also takes like 6 months for eligibility. Mustang Club of America is cheaper and faster at 90 days. That or if you can find a dealer with not outrageous doc fees the $500 from joining a Farm Bureau can be a better deal. Since it's manufacturer cash you shouldn't get any pushback like X-plan which some dealers aren't honoring in the current market.
Faster option is buy a membership in EAA, with eligibility in 3 months. Yeah, that's right EAA. Something like $45.

The Ford X-plan guidelines specify documentation fees max out at $100. You might print the guidelines and bring it to the attention of the dealership so that you don't overpay the fees.

This is what I did. The DAV Promotion at the time I ordered (8/25) was XPLAN -$1,000 before 9/30/2021. I gave my dealer the XPlan PIN numbers at the time of my order. I ordered an Area 51 XLT Hybrid w Lux pkg, sunroof, floor liners (and added the bed topper later). Since the $1K promotion had an expiration date of 9/30, I am wondering if they will still honor it, since I may not get a Maverick until January or later. I asked my dealer via email and he never responded. When I originally got an XPlan pin# in August, the Maverick wasn't available then as an option. After 9/30 I checked to see if they still have that -$1K DAV promotion and saw then that the Maverick was available online as an option but I did not see the extra -$1K promotion, but I did see in big red letters "Customer must be a member of the eligible organization for a minimum of 90 days prior to the sale date of the vehicle." That won't be a problem, but I didn't even realize Ford has been a partner with DAV since 2014. Even though I have a 2005 Ford, if I would have known about the partnership earlier, I might have upgraded years ago. I am looking forward to getting my Maverick soon.

First time using the X-Plan. Just want to make sure that I’m getting the full advantage of the Plan. I’m in Texas.

Here’s how they wrote it up:

(Registration Fees)
License: $120.50
Documentary Fee: $150.00
State Inspection: $7.50
Title: $33.00
Tag & Deputy Fee: $6.00

(Taxes)
Texas State Tax: $2,232.45
V.I.T. Tax: $59.99

Total: $38,328.69

When you are eligible for plan pricing, the dealer shows you the invoice. There is no guess work.
