I'd like to say no, because I plan to keep my Mav pretty much forever. (I'm less than 10 years from retirement, and I keep up on my maintenance).

Then again, if the offer was crazy enough I would take the money and order another Mav.

No…..not in this car sales/purchase environment. If I got $5000 over then I would have to go through this mess again for the replacement.

Well, since i decided to pick up a BS Badlands, have a 2015 F150, and a 1994 Camaro Z28 (garage queen), I will be "constrained for space" when the Maverick finally gets built/delivered.

So when that happens it will be decision time.

2015 F150 XLT (302A) advantages: Paid for, has a lot of useful life yet (80K miles on it), can haul wood and tow my tractor. Has a great sound system (I upgraded it to have Pioneer Sub, focal speakers front & rear, sound deadening, in-line amp). I have a Undercover Tonneau on it which makes for nice, dry, lockable bed. I've gotten over 20MPG so far (including hauling things, snow tires half the year) so the mileage has been great (for the size). 3.5L Eco-boost provides more than enough power, especially for towing. Biggest vehicle if I want to travel around the country/camp.

1994 Z28: Keeping it, just because.

2021 Bronco Sport Badlands: Fun vehicle so far! MPG is better than the F150, but not enough to make a serious difference. (About 26MPG so far.) Apple Car play is nice. I will have to eventually upgrade the sound system if I decide to keep it long term (Note: It is better than the factory system that was in the F150.) Having the GOAT modes, "lockable" rear diff, skid-plates is nice. (Note: I also added real RCI skid-plates on the F150.)

2022 Hybrid Maverick Lariat: Unknown at this point, as it doesn't yet exist. Advantages will include much better mileage. Disadvantages: FWD only, can't really tow much (2K limit isn't even enough to tow my trailer w/o the tractor on it.)

I am likely to keep either the BS or the Maverick, but not both. (However a friend is already laughing at this telling me I will end up keeping all of them.) If I sold the F150, I could "get by" in terms of towing the tractor by occasionally borrowing a truck or renting one. (I typically only have to tow it a couple times a year).

It probably makes the most sense to sell the Maverick (given I already have a truck), but I really like the idea of it and getting 35-40 MPG. So who knows.

Assuming you already own another working vehicle, would you flip your Mav for a profit? Scenario: I bought my MAV @ Chapman 4% under invoice. I went to the parts department at the local dealer, and while I was waiting the used manager came up and said they would give me 2k over MSRP if I sold my truck.

After doing some quick rough math.

I would come out with a little over 2k profit after taxes paid.

It's not much, but I'm also on the fence about ordering a Hybrid, instead of sticking with my Ecoboost.

Thoughts?

Lowball from that used car salesman. Sell it yourself if you want profit!

SSOOO... you have a work truck, Recreational vehicle, a weekend special driver and you ordered a Maverick. Each one has a "special" purpose. It is not a matter of vehicles but rearranging your purposes. Only you can decide to reorder that.

If it were me, I would replace the 1994 Z28 with the Maverick. I had Fiero's up until last year. When I sold my last one I thought, why didn't I do that sooner? How many priorities can you have? It is a mental discipline, not physical number.

I am still waiting for a scheduling and I placed my order in June, so I owe no allegiance to Ford, the dealership or the Maverick. I would sell the thing in a heart beat if the profit were good enough. It is being purchased as a bang around vehicle, I really don't need it and certainly don't need a truck for anything. It is a fairly loaded Lariat and I probably could make a few grand selling it myself.

I still want a second, general purpose all around vehicle of some sort as what I am driving is basically a luxury sports car with limited versatility. During this long seven month wait, I have had the chance to study suvs such as the CX5, Jeep, Corsair, etc. They are more expensive vehicles of course but they offer so much more that I have been thinking an suv makes more sense to me than a truck. The back end of these suvs are about as big as the small bed of the Maverick. Many are available as hybrids as well and towing capacity is usually better than the hybrid Maverick.

So, I might just go ahead and buy a compact suv and it will do everything for me the Maverick would have. Then when the Maverick arrives I will make a decision to buy it and flip it or just let it go back to the dealer (I paid no deposit so I can walk if I want to).

The only advantage this long wait has given me is time to study all these terrific suvs that are now coming available. There were none to be had during the last six months of last year so I really lost no time. Now, they are appearing in showrooms everywhere. My Lariat will be over $30,000. For another ten thousand, I can get one awesome suv that beats the Maverick in almost every way. If I can make four or five thousand on a flip, the choice would be a no brainer.

You are right, but still not going to sell the Camaro. I bought it new, Z28, T-Tops, 6-speed manual, all options except leather. Has under 30K miles on it and looks pretty much like new.

But ha ha, you are correct, no mental discipline when it comes to this... :)

You did not say T-Top in the original post or that you bought it new. I had a T-Top Fiero, I understand the issue fully now. I did not buy mine new but the rarity of it made it one of the last vehicles I sold. You have more invested in it than just $money$. When you do get ready to sell maybe Jay Leno would be interested. That is a quality piece of iron.

I know about the mental discipline issue I had 7 Fieros simultaneously!!!

If I had been a smart man I would have ordered 2 just to flip one and pay for half of the first one

Not my Maverick, but maybe the second one I ordered.
My Lariat that I ordered in June is expected to arrive late Feb. My wife wanted one that we ordered in July, We have since changed directions as we went ahead and purchased a Bronco Sport after seeing one and test driving. Pulled that trigger and now she loves it. Must say, it is fun to drive. So now that I have a second one on order, XLT Hybird (see signature below), I'm in a different situation. Dealer wanted to know if I was cancelling. Told them wasn't sure, will let them know once it arrives. I really don't want to go thru the hassle of trying to resale privately and I understand all the tax ramifications but if I can make it worth my wile, maybe. We'll see.

40k maybe. But I really don’t care for anything else on the Market except the Bronco. I like my Maverick. Said it before. It’s brought fun back into owning a vehicle. Looking forward to some customization once again after 30 years.
