Wireless phone charger

I have 2024 Lariat and yesterday my phone overheated while sitting on the wireless charger in the center tray. I had just installed the AAwireless adapter. Trying to figure out if it was the adapter signalling the phone or the charger causing the phone to overheat. Not sure I want to put my phone there again. Any ideas???

Wireless chargers will make phone run warm. Running the AAwireless adapter and charging it wireless will make phone run even hotter. I have learned to leave my phone in my pocket while driving and to charge it when phone is not in truck. Just my two pennies!

Agreed, if you really need to charge it I usually only leave it on for 5-10 mins. Charges fairly quick on the wireless pad so it doesn’t take much.

I put mine on the wireless charger for about an hour drive. It was so hot I couldn’t hold it when I picked it up. Will only charge by cable in the future

When I used my wireless charger, my phone was in a case and it had the metal disc in it for tge magnetic mount. It was so hot it blistered my finger when I picked it up. The metal piece is what burned me. Phone was super hot too. Since then, if I take out of case then I have zero issues. But it's more inconvenient so I just leave both work and personal phone plugged in while driving all day in their holders.

I'm surprised - I use AAWireless and wireless charging every day for at least my 45 minute commute, sometimes more, and have noticed the phone a little warm but not blistering or overheating.

I am using a Pixel 8 Pro with an Otterbox Symmetry case.

Even when plugged in, charging, using navigation, and streaming music, my phone gets hot. Charging makes heat and using anything that requires the processor to run just adds to it.

It is the Metal Disk. Not recommended for wireless charging. The magnetic field that is generating the "Charge" does not play well with the disk.

Something I've noticed with ALL wireless chargers is that the amount of heat generated greatly depends on the phone's case. The thicker the case, the farther the coils are form each other, and the more heat is generated or more appropriately the more energy is consumed in transmission, making the phone warmer.

If you have a cover with any metal, such as the floating stars, or little emblems, they're usually some type of foil and compound the issue further, as well as making the phone take that much longer to charge. I've tossed my Pixel 7 Pro onto mine a few times when using it to spool music and such using Ford+Alexa or wireless Android Auto (adapter), and while warm (especially using maps) it's definitely not too hot to hold. - BUT, I have a fairly thin but protective case on mine.

If you phone is getting really hot, try using the wireless charger without a case and see if it becomes just as hot. If it doesn't, its the case, if it does it rules out the case as the cause.

I leave mine in there all the time I haven't had that issues of heating up,but my phone wirelessly charges at 50 Watts normally 100 Watts plugged in so I guess that could be a factor if it's charging at a higher wattage than your phone can charge at but it should you be
limited to what the phone accepts

I have another induction charger and it does the same thing.
I love the wireless charger but I just don't leave it on for too long.

My phone will overheat within 30 min on the wireless charger. No case on the phone. (Samsung 21 note) I use a wireless charger at home and never have a problem. Why can't they fix this problem?

In your car, if your phone is connected to bluetooth while it is charging, it will charge hotter.
