Never understand people that buy winter tires.
A few years back I witnessed several hundred people get stuck in their cars overnight. They got stuck because their all-seasons couldn't make it up a moderate grade due to an icy mix happening before PennDot could brine and plow the roads leading out of town during evening rush hour. I'm certain they didn't understand until that moment either. šŸ˜„

Milwaukee here. Stock wheels and stock tires. Never understand people that buy winter tires. I think the stock tires are Pirelli's and they work just fine. When the time comes I will most likely get Michelin's. They last forever. This will be my 3rd winter with a Maverick.
Stock tires and wheels on all 4 of my Maverick. Current two 24 hybrid has Michelins and 25 hybrid AWD HAD Goodyears. Just thawing out from a 6ā€ snow and ice that has been on ground for last 12 days. Went out ever day and had no problems. Back roads still got snow and ice on them.

After getting stuck in my driveway during a particularly icey stretch of weather - it has always been my choice to opt for a set of dedicated winter tires to replace the "three season radials" that the vehicle came with for driving with confidence in winter.

I don't mind the steelies with some A/T's, gives the truck a utilitarian look. Rocking some Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T's (245/65/17), with stock steel wheels that came with my truck. I may or may not eventually replace them with some Fifteen52 Wander wheels, but not sure, I kinda like how this looks tbh.

Yeah, been there a few times! Mine was a unicorn around here when I got it in '22. Now I see them fairly often.
Agree on unicorn, when I got my 22 you saw very few. Now when I drive over to my brother in laws house( 60 miles) I’ll see 4 or 5 along the interstate almost every time. I’ve tried to do my share my wife and I own our 3rd and 4th Mavericks. Hers is a 24 hybrid HPR and mine is a 25 hybrid AWD eruption green and we talked our son into buying a 25 hybrid in blue. We love them.

I envy all you guys that can get away without dedicated winter tires. I'm running some RTX 17" wheels I picked up used in excellent condition. I ran Goodyear Winter Command tires for a couple years but now I'm running Michelin X-Ice Snows that are made here in Nova Scotia.

Here's a couple things I can add:
Painted wheels are the only way to go for winter wheels, any wheel with polished areas end up with the worst corrosion within a couple years.

The Goodyear Winter Command tires were great, I have no complaints. Drove fine, handled the snow well, I'd still be running them if one didn't explode on a bridge transition.

The Michelin X-Ice Snow are far and away the best winter tire I have ever run. Quiet, comfortable, grips like crazy on snow and really good on ice. We'll see how long they last but I am confident they'll be durable too. The cost is excessive for these tires, but it's definitely a get what you paid for deal here but the extra cost over other decent winter tires to me is worth it.

Here on PEI we're doing just fine (so far!) with the stock Contis (25) and GY (26).

We're getting steelies and winter tires for next year for both AWD Mavericks.

Also - my new work truck is also a MY26 AWD hybrid Maverick with stock Contis and they are great and have gotten me everywhere I need to get... to be fair that has not been down any unplowed clay roads. lol

I’ve owned well over 100 Fords, before I started buying mavericks I owned 10 different F150 supercrews. No telling how many Tauruses we’ve owned. The one Ford I’ve never owned was a Mustang, didn’t like that they set so low.

I bought Cooper Road and Trail AT tires this fall. I have been very pleased with them, however on the West Coast of BC here, the winter has been very mild. NO snow at all here in Chilliwack. So my tires have not seen much of a work out. The most serious was a trip to the local ski mountain. They worked great.

However the black steel wheels did not make my heart go flutter. So I looked for some Hub Caps / Wheel Covers and found these on Amazon. I really like the look on my Mav.

Haven’t had a chance to post much so finally getting around to sharing the winter setup I’ve been running since November.

Picked up a set of 17x7.5 RTX Ranch wheels on eBay for winter use. I liked that they looked somewhat ford OEM. And I wanted OEM center bore which had 63.4, didn’t wanna mess an around with hub rings ect. Wrapped them in Toyo Observe G3 Ice OEM sizing. Also the stock black ford center caps fit perfectly. Used ford open end lug nuts and installed some Amazon black lug nut covered to match it all up nicely.

Mini review on winter tires. Are they good for the money yes. I’d probably give them a 3.5 out of 5 stars but being I’ve had much better winter tires these are just ok. Positives are good traction out of the hole and decent braking and they’re actually pretty quiet for a snow tire. The negatives are they’re ultra mushy so at higher highway speed and winds you’re going to feel it. I don’t care for the turn in with the sipes are good in a straight line but when you turn there’s a feeling of unsettledness. Will they break loose, no…but it’s just that like I said I’ve had better winter tires like blizzaks and good years and many more to list, these don’t feel as confident. But in the end they’re great for what they are and you can stud them if you need to.

anyways what’s everyone else running for their winter setup? And how do you like the tires you’re running?

I really like those wheels. I looked on eBay and think I found them, but they say they don't fit the Maverick. The size, center ring, and offset seem to be ok. Is it just the wheel stud size that's the issue? How did you deal with that? What lug nuts are you running?
