A paint protection film on the windshield would leave a noticeable "edge" if part of it were worn off (he says you can feel no edge). The "acoustic" windshield has a special layer sandwiched between two layers of glass: you would not be able to "wear it off" (also not available on an XL). Almost appears as if it may be a layer of some kind of industrial or exhaust "mist/fog", but you would think that most of the trucks paint would have also been exposed to it as well. Where is it parked at home or work? A mystery for sure ;)

Does water bead differently on those two areas?
I know said they didn’t do that, but it does look to me like a coating was applied to the windshield, and the wipers worn it off.

The Lariat acoustical windshield does seem to have a ‘soft’ outer layer. Not sure about the non-acoustical. I scratched my ‘22 Lariat windshield when I used a gas station squeegee on it to get bugs off after a long trip; not realizing there was something on it. I tried glass polish and couldn’t get them out.

When I polished it, I didn’t get any two-tone look like your picture. So polishing your windshield should cause no harm, unless you use something aggressive. You can always test an area like the upper corner on the passenger side. You can’t see that from inside, and you won’t see it each time you get in your truck.

The only other thought is did you put on a Rain-X type of wiper? Maybe the wiper is adding something to the windshield.
Great idea - adding something.

Now for the other suggestion - take wiper off correctly - and wipe off rest of the windshield.
Maybe everything came off the new wiper - get another one of the same!

Update for all following. The Magic Eraser didn’t work, nor did 4 brands of glasd cleaner to include Rain-X and Pella Professional Glass Cleaner. The blades were not Rain-X; they were Ford part nos NZ6Z-17528A & NZ6Z-17528-BA, both priced @ $25.98 ea. I am retired. The truck is parked at home outside.
I do live about 5 miles as a bird flies from a phosphate fertilizer facility. Because of trying the Rain-X cleaner the beading is the same when the wipers aren’t running. See photo of what I have tried. Have avoided any with ammonia to avoid damage to the paint itself. Have not tried eraser wheel.

I could see wiper blades having a mold release chemical on them - and that clean area was caused by the 1st few streaks of use.

So unlikely to get more off the blades. Maybe...

And ya - OEM is pricy - but at least you know if you get another set to use on the other areas now - you'll be using them down the road.
Just store them in that ultra-safe location you can't find in 2 years.

How does it look from the inside?

This looks like a glare / anti-glare coating issue from the limited photos with mediocre lighting conditions.

Kind of like anti-glare coatings for eye glasses. And sometimes "museum" picture frame glass. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Hard to say without being there.

What's your end game?
Make the "Wiped" part match the border? Or make the border match the wiped part?

Have you tried going through a car wash? Maybe 2 or 3 times?

Also, was it tinted beyond the factory tint after delivery?

Once my grandpa got flown over by a crop dusting plane: it permanently etched the glass. But it affected the whole vehicle. His glass looked "smudged" thereafter and it absolutely could not be cleaned off. Lord I tried and wasted much elbow grease in the process.

Have ‘23 XL w/20k mi. Bought $799 dealer protection pkg. After new wiper blades installed at 18k oil chg wipers have removed exterior tint (?). Dealer tried to acid wash. Sent to body shop who tried to scrape w/razor blade. I think they accidently applied ceramic to glass but they say no. Protection Pkg wtty excludes glass. Body shop tried to tell me I should have bought Ford Windshield Care pkg. When you go to Ford website - not available in FL. Took to Nation Auto Glass. Have never seen anything like this happen in 35 yrs in the business. Curious if anyone else’s windshield has similar issues.

Aaron……..
Did you buy the Mav new? Or Used?
It was bought new and the dealership applied a $799 ceramic protection pkg. I have tried all of the suggestions except lacquer thinner and the Mirror Glaze Plastic Polish. It has been raining every day so took a break. Had a fellow Maverick owner visiting from SC look at it today. It doesn’t show from the inside so not creating any safety issue. I am going to take it to a different Ford dealer than the one I bought it from for their opinion. Will update when that is done but tied up with appts tomorrow.

Rain X Bug Removing - have used in every car, this truck for 1st 3 years, and 2 motorhomes with no issues. It is the only thing that removes the love bugs we get 3 times a year in Florida. If not removed from paint in 48 hrs the acid their smashed bodies leave eats thru paint hence the ceramic coating.
