I just noticed tonight as I was leaving a Classic car show that my windshield cracked while parked at a car show tonight. Just 9100 miles.
Luckily I have full glass coverage thru USAA and made an appointment to drop off my truck at Safelite Monday morning. Anyone else have their windshield just crack while parked?

I have USAA, and from what I have read or was told it depends on which state you live in. Some (maybe 4?) offer zero deductible by state law. MO, where I live, makes you pay your comprehensive deductible to replace it.

Wish MO did require zero deductible for windshield replacement....

When we purchased our '23 Sonata Hybrid new in MO, the finance guy practicaly begged us to buy Hyundai's insurance. Told us a winshield replacement with all the electronics and required recalibration was around a $1k without the insurance. Thats when I called USAA and found out my policy coverage.

We use a Covercraft UV100 sunscreen to help reduce inside temps. So far we havent had any heat related cracks on any of our cars since using a sunscreen since our '94 SHO.

Mine had a very small star in it, not sure how long it was there. I was detailing it when I first spotted it. Next day I went out had a long crack, about 4 inches, later that day it took a small curve. The next day I came out and it went straight up off the curve another coupke inches. By the time I had it replaced, my windshield was on back order as I insisted on a OEM Ford windshield, the crack had moved up to the middle of the windshield from the bottom. The star was in the bottom of the black portion of the windshield. Not even sure how something would have hit it that low 🤷‍♂️ thankfully my insurance with State Farm also has full glass coverage. $910.90 not including taxes. I will say the installer did a great job. I have seen his work before which is another reason I went with the dealership. We've had a few damp nights now and I've washed it once since install. Thankfully the windshield seems to be installed properly with no leaks or issues with condensation.

I recently got the Maverick Covercraft UV100 sunscreen for my Mav. Definitely a great thing to help keep the cabin cooler. And helps keep the dash from getting sticky lol

I got a small crack in mine when I was following a truck at about 150 feet and that truck failed to clear the overpass patching and set broken concrete everywhere that hit me. I fixed it with windshield packing material.

Ha. I have 5000 miles on my 2026 maverick and noticed a little star towards the bottom of the windshield in the evening when I got home. Sure enough, by morning it was across the bottom and also heading up. No luck on windshields where I live.

Mine met a rock on the hwy as a chip and turned into a crack after going to a car wash. Safelite did a great job replacing it in my driveway. Be sure they give you the acoustic type that comes originally with the lariat.

☝ Exactly !!! OP should insist the insurance and installer replaces it with the OEM Soundstream windshield installed from the factory on the Lariat, not some secondary market china replacement. I had to have mine replaced year ago or so, Safelite came to my house, did a great job replacing it and doing the recalibrating work.

I am on my 3rd windshield already. The original one took a huge rock on the highway south of Colorado Springs from some dumb 4Runner with massive tires as it passed me. The second one cracked while I was inside a restaurant in Los Alamos. I came out to a huge crack right in front of me as I sat down. It started in the bottom left corner of the windshield. I didn't get it fixed for many months because I was annoyed at already paying 1k for it just a few months prior. Then it took a MASSIVE rock on the highway to Port Aransas that almost came through the windshield. A semi kicked that up when I was passing it. With a huge crack and now a massive crater in it, I scheduled my third windshield a week or so later. The price for the OEM glass actually dropped and I only paid $750 this time.

Now when I got to Safelite to drop off my truck and asked if they were using the OEM acoustic glass. I was told no they use aftermarket, so I refused that and am now waiting to hear back from USAA if they will waive that decision and to pay for OEM.

They should allow you to choose whoever you want if it's full coverage. You might have to do the leg work and contact your local dealer to get an estimate for the glass and install. Make sure to have them include taxes too. I just had mine covered through State Farm and because the taxes weren't listed I had to pay those 😕 it was a to do with my dealer as well with the glass. Talked to parts manager, he said mine was on backorder. Fine. I set the appointment 3 weeks out because he suggested 2 weeks. Dropped off the truck the night before, brought them donuts the next morning and I'm told then they didn't have the glass 😤 another week later when the glass came in they got me in that day and got it installed and calibrated. They've been good to me otherwise so I'm letting this slide but I did tell them it was upsetting and a huge inconvenience. Not to mention my inspection was up and needed the windshield to pass. I chose them because I knew the glass installer and he does an outstanding job! That part didn't disappoint. In the end, I have my new OEM Ford windshield and no wind noise or leaks. Hope you get your OEM glass covered 🤞

I now have an updated appointment for Saturday noon, but have not heard from USAA directly that they will use the OEM acoustic Sound shield glass or not. I should know by tomorrow.

Hope they replace it with what you had from the factory, it shouldn't be an issue/fight. All I can say is when I called my insurance (Travelers) to get it replaced I told them I expected the same OEM Sound Stream windshield I had from the factory, the representative checked my VIN # and said yes that what they see it had and that's what it will be replaced with, zero argument. When Safelite came to the house to replace it, I verified that's what they had. They did a great job, it was all a smooth process.
