What everyone else wrote plus in addition to oil, regular fluid change. Many overlook engine coolant, auto trans fluid and brake fluid.

-Ford spec coolant for the EB helps stop electrolysis that leads to corrosion. Not just any green coolant that says "for all vehicles".

-Ford spec auto trans fluid anrd filter keeps trans from building up gum and varnish. Defeats the purpose if your engine goes 150k but your tranny fails at 80k and needs a $3500 rebuild.

-Brake fluid is hydroscopic - it absorbs moisture. Moisture corrodes internal brake components including expensive ABS parts. Flushing brake fluid prevents that. ABS replacement will set you back $2k.

-Engine air filter. Easy DYI maintenance.

I can’t stress enough that changing the oil at or before the recommend and using the correct oil type and weight is the best way to keep your engine running for the long haul. For me I’ve replaced the last two Explorer Sportracs right before 100k just for value. Nothing was wrong with them.

You might go 500,000 miles without any problems at all. Or, your engine could bite the dust tomorrow. While most engines in most vehicles today are lasting well into 6 digits on the odometer, you're asking us if YOUR engine will last a long time. If I were THAT psychic, I wouldn't be living in a 55+ trailer park in Florida, now would I? ;)

The only way to find out is experiment. It seems like your keeping it either way, maybe you can tell us when you get there. I'm doing about exactly half of your mileage in a year so I'll get there too sooner than average. If you have no repairs by the time you reach 150k, I think that's a good sign in general with any vehicle.

One thing for sure is that yes, highway miles will make the engine last longer than city miles (at least for non turbo engines I know for sure).

I'll probably ditch mine for a 4-runner as soon as my last kid graduates. I like my mav but I can't bring myself to trust it entirely. Hope I'm wrong.

So is also like o clear up that the carbon build up is not as bad as most are made to believe. It’s a lot of click bait for views. I have now 5 that have all cleared 300k with zero issues. At first I was pulling the intake to see how bad at 120k. After finding that I had very minimal on the first 3 I owned I stopped looking. Or caring.
was this maybe because I use high end oil? Perhaps but I run my engines much much harder than most so a lot of blow by should increase the problem for me.
Also you can help reduce the build up which is caused by blow by.
Blow by pressuring the crank and pushing oil up through the pcv into intake. So how can we reduce pressure and reduce oil being pushed passed the oil separator in the pcv cover?
Upr makes an oil fill filter with check valve. I have started running these now. As pressure is built in the bottom end it’s released out of the valve cover. In theory should never build enough pressure to push oil passed the separator this no more intake coking.
Carbon build up is real but it doesn't mean it is fatal or even required to address - the "loss" of power in the vast majority of cases will be between 5-10% max.

However most engines require some sort of 100k mile maintenance and if I can find a reputable shop to walnut blast my intake for $500-600? Why not? Keep that Singer needling sweet threads for years to come.

My point was not that it’s not real but in my experience it’s over exaggerated. I have popped off many intakes to look very rarely at 100k did they have any significant build up. Just an fyi I wouldn’t even pop off the intake to look until 150 200 k. But as stated you may be able to avoid it completely with reducing the crank case pressure with a breather.
I have never had to walnut blast any of mine even the ones that went over 350k.
Your mileage may vary.

Not all preventive maintenance is needed. Like you said, everyone's mileage varies.

We both agree that owners should not be overly concerned their EB is going to leave them high and dry after 100k.

Last 2 cars I had went over 250k before they got wrecked. I worry more about carbon buildup than the turbo. Retired now so won't see that kind of miles.
Am in the same situation, am retired also, its going on 2 years and maybe 10k on my FX4, I've done 2 oil changes and only do local driving. I have never kept a vehicle past 40k when I was working BUT with the cost of new cars these days I need my maverick to last a while. Am going to change the oil every 5k, trany and diff every 30k and rotate tires every other oil change. I also get on the parkway weekly for just a few exits and Blow it out they call it the Italian tune up! in the trade. The way am going 100k shouldn't be a problem.
Working for a dealership for 40 years Turbos scare the shit out of me, besides am 72 how many more miles do I have.
A few good points with a turbo vehicle, let it warm up a few min. and let it cool down a few min. never floor it from a dead stop and change the oil often, never wait 10k to change the oil unless your not keeping the vehicle for a long time like leasing and not keeping it after the lease ends. Always bring donuts when you go to your dealer!!

My standard expectation for my new cars in 200k miles, 10 years....my '24 Maverick is my 5th new car and I wouldn't have pulled the trigger if I didn't think it's engine/drivetrain wasn't robust enough to handle it. Just follow the maintenance schedule and you should be fine. My previous winners were an '81 Toyota Corolla, '88 Nissan Hardbody, '01 Isuzu Trooper, and '13 Subaru Outback.

Cool I has a 2011 F150 Ecoboost bought it used only had it 3 years. Just to big! But very fast. My son actually put a turbo on a Dodge Neon. Had a turbo timer that would run the car for a few minutes after he turned the car off. Living up in the NW corner of NJ I will put on a few more miles than you as everything is at minimum a 20 minute ride. Hope the Mav will last a while

All I know is I have 5 more years and 125k on the warranty, so I'll get at least that much out of it lol. This will be the longest I've kept a vehicle since 2016 and that was about 4 years of a RAM that looking back I probably should have kept. The RAM before bit was 4 years as well. I don't plan on keeping the Maverick beyond the warranty, but who knows, I've done worse things in life :ROFLMAO:
