Will 5-gallon water bottles fit in bed?

Every couple weeks I need to get the house water bottles filled. Does anyone know if the bed with a tonneau cover will hold the 5-gallon water bottles standing up?

My 5 gallon jugs are approximately 19" tall , so yes they should fit.

Also, it wouldn't be too difficult to build a frame to either keep the water bottle upright in the bed, or built it to keep the bottle immobilized when laying on it's side.

I'm thinking the aluminum bed extenders in their stored position might work for this.

The KISS option is a good one.

With the tri-fold, I'm considering a semi-permanent option to compartmentalized the rear section (wheel arches back) for weekly grocery getting. Nets are PITA. BTDT. And I don't like that extenders take up (very valuable in the Maverick's case) space 24/7 whenever they're not in use and their relative costs.

Yes. Standard 5 gallon water bottles can stand up under a closed tonneau (at least with a BakFlip MX4 hard folding tonneau). I put 4 bottles against the tailgate and vertical net with bungees as well.

I carry 5 gal. jugs for camping no problem with the cover closed. Dropped a 2x6 across the slots in my bed liner that keeps big stuff from sliding to the front where it's a pain to reach. Also bought a cargo net/hammock that attaches across the back of the Maverick bed using the four rear tie downs. Easy to just drop small items into it to keep them from moving around. I keep a cooler and plastic basket in back of truck . A 2x4 in bed slots keep them in place . mostly used during grocery shopping . very convenient and useful for me . Bed liner is from a ford ranger ( bought on Craigslist $25 )that I modified ( cut with jigsaw ) to fit bed and tailgate . works for me .

A propane tank in a milk crate slides right in under the cover.

Under sleeping bed totes make good "drawers" that can be reached with tailgate down and when slid up to cab wall leaves 18-20" between them and closed tailgate. Works really well for groceries. Would be too hard to slide with two bottles in each tote. But would be room left between toe and tailgate but would need net, board or bungee to keep bottles from sliding.
