That's why a tow bar base plate is needed.

Yes of course.

Where is the one with a 2" receiver in the middle?

If I had a welder, I'd be done already.

I'll probably take the lowest cost one of those to a welder with a 2" female hitch receiver. But was hoping I wouldn't need to.

My Dad did that on his dodge van, made parking the boat next to the house easy for him.
He ended up with a sagging front bumper.
But then again,
steel frame,
Some welding,
A small plate of half inch steel as a base.
It never sagged again.

XLT here.

No apparent conflict.
Really? How does putting lots of non-crushable steel in the frontal impact mitigation zones impact survivability and extreme damage to the other vehicle? It's good that you don't design vehicles for real-world use.

I would use one if those then weld a 2" receiver to a bar that clipped into both receivers on the plate so I could take it on and off as needed. 🤫

Master Blaster, i get your concerns. However flat towing, and the addition of the flat tow base plates is not unique to mavericks. Though actual numbers are hard to find, according to RVIA 11.2 million rvs in usa, 15% or so motorhomes. The slippery part is how many flat tow? And this is rough guess of about 20%, so that's about 336000 flat tow vehicles in usa. Not huge but more than nothing. Also considering there are at least 3 mfg of these parts, and each must chase year to year changes there must be some demand. My point here is that, yea adding something like this should change crumple zones etc, but I'm sure some of these vehicles have been in accidents over the years, and with the litigious environment we live in I'd think these mfg are aware of consequences.

Whether or not you can/ want a front hitch is a different question.

Extreme damage to the other vehicle being a feature, and not a bug, in my book.

I want a cow catcher, but I'll call it the stupid catcher. Cows are more intelligent than some of the people on the roads.

And that's why your insurance rates are so high. Why not just buy an APC and be done with anything sheet metal?
