Sounds shady to me. Do MTC members a solid and name the dealer.
I will at a later time if the sales manager is not able to satisfy me with another truck. But, for the time being, I do not want muddy up the water more than necessary. Thanks for your reply.

Not sure what's up with that dealership but if I was you could try a different dealership and tell them what happened and see if there any way they can help out get a truck fast like.
My grandson in law works for a little less local ford dealer ship. I was using the family discount from Ford through him. He says he can 'probably' get me a new truck, but it will not be at the contracted price that I signed. I may have to just lick my wounds and move on to his dealership is I want to get this truck. Thanks for your cmmment.

Thanks for all the comments. I knew that this forum could offer valuable information from like-minded Maverick owners and or soon to be owners.

So, I have been working with the "genuine" sales manager at the local Ford dealership. I believe he is trying to walk a tightrope to please me and Ford. He gave me a couple of options. I reordered a truck yesterday with all the options I wanted. It will cost more than my original order, but how much will be determined when it arrives. He said he would take care of me. I suppose he will give me whatever options and discounts he can. Also, they will notify me when and if my original order does come in. And, they will notify me if any truck comes in that is for some reason turned down by the person who ordered it. I can choose any or all or none of these options. As for the price, I am not sure that the price I was quoted in my originally order is chipped in stone for Ford. The contract says in several places, in lawyer speak, that the quoted price may not be the actual price. It is just an estimate. So, my question to you is how many of you actually paid the price you were originally quoted? I hate starting all over, but it is better than nothing at this point.

I think you are setting yourself up for disappointment. Just to be clear, you ordered a truck and did everything you were asked to do. The dealership ghosted you and somehow (unclear exactly what happened) resulted in you not getting a truck, and not even having an order - which would have ensured you would have some type of relief from price increases directly through Ford. And now, you are taking the same dealership at their word that they will "take care of you," without any type of guarantee of what the price will be? I really think you are making a mistake. If they really wanted to take care of you, they would have at least offered to sell it at the same price your original order was for.

My advice: talk to your grandson-in-law and ask him for the X-Plan PIN he offered, and find a different dealer that will accept it. Place your order there. You will get a set price (discounted) and have a real order without having to wonder.

Thanks for the comment. I too wonder just how honest this guy is, but without many options, I take him at his word. I will contact my Grandson in law if this does not work out to my fullest satisfaction. I would rather get the truck from his firm anyway.

I would name the dealer so others don't experience this same sort of terrible purchase experience.

To answer your immediate question, I paid original price with my 22 rolled over to 23.

The dealership did try to play some games with financing, but that’s a (mostly) different story.

I’ll go against the general consensus here though- I don’t think anything is wrong with working with the same dealership.

Ford has changed the process, been bad about communication, and generally unhelpful. It’s entirely possible that the dealership made a mistake, and it seems they’re trying to make it right to the best of their ability. If that is what’s happening (and that’s a pretty big if) then keep working with them if you’re comfortable with that. Otherwise, walk. If you are going to walk though, I’d recommend doing so sooner rather than later.

Seeing as you had a trusted ford employee say it was cancelled vs delivered, I would rule out jumping to the conclusion of dealers malicious intent. That would be hella stupid for even a gutsy unscrupulous dealer to try for 5k profit, aka unlikely. Much easier and safer to try other little tricks to get you to pay more or back out on delivery.

It seems like you were totally depending on the dealer for status of your order. No e-mails or independent verification via ford direct? Sad you can't trust a dealer, but that's not anything new (why some like to uphold the stereo type is beyond me). Even if it were 1970, with the issues around the Maverick, I'd be checking the mail twice a day for letters and calling the Ford factory to make sure I don't get lost in the shuffle.

I hope you have heard of the saying "fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me".

Since I will be depending on the dealer for the life of the warranty. (I know I don't have too), but since I do, that is one person you don't want to be pissed when he does maintenance on your truck. Him and your doctor.

I fully understand your thinking but we are doing this wrong.
The dealer providing us the service need to be bending over backwards to keep our business and our get our recommendations to others. For service and vehicle purchases as well.

This does depend on the market you live in. I don't know what your market is like. I once lived in a town where there were 4 dealers. Ford, Chevrolet, Honda/Yamaha, and Suzuki/Kawasaki. Customer service sucked.

I now live in a market of over 4 million people.
I have walked away from a couple of dealers and will never go back.

Why does that sound like blackmail or extortion?

You should be able to get D-plan from your grandson-in-law (if he has some left to give) - that will save you more than X-plan!
