I ordered a hybrid Maverick XL almost a year ago. I have a Vin and last I heard, I have a production date of 10/17. Since it has taken longer than I anticipated and I needed another vehicle, I ended up buying a 22 4WD Colorado. I like the Colorado a lot more than I expected and will probably keep it since it has 4WD and is pretty loaded compared to my base XL. I did not put a deposit down on the Mav, so I am trying to decide if I should just cancel my order now, let the dealership have it or buy it and try flipping it. I know the used car market is dropping and it was never my intention to flip it, just wondering what others would do.

Oh definitely don't walk away. I took delivery last week. I'm still thinking on whether or not I'm gonna trade my Maverick for a profit on an SC (not so impressed with it), but a Maverick in your hands is money in the bank right now. Especially a hybrid.

If you no longer have need of it, why not avoid the machinations of private sale involved altogether by letting it go to find a home with another happy owner? Should the dealership impose a substantial mark-up, the onus is on them.

if you have a lot of extra $ and time, buy it and re-sell. Otherwise, be happy with your new ride and let this play out with no obligation to do anything on your end.

Out of curiosity, where did you end up?

I just test drove my 2022 XLT Hybrid and in the same boat. Curious what you did.

I am not scheduled to get it until 11/14. We'll see if that happens. I am leaning towards canceling.

I'm in the same position. I bought a Ranger Lariat last June and I'm very happy. But I did order the 1st edition AWD in rapid red it's going to be a tough decision! I will flip if the money is is still there to be made whenever it comes in??? I do have a vin/window sticker

The ability to buy a Maverick at MSRP should not be passed up. Why let the dealer mark it up?

Not sure that I want to deal with the hassle of buying it then trying to sell it and with prices coming down not sure how much profit would I make doing that.

presently I'm sitting on a XLT tremor -lux order. The competition for me is the new colorado's. heavily considering as the chevy/GMC will be more however it will be 310hp with a more overall advanced setup.

If you are not in the car business I wouldn’t get in. But having said that see what car max or some of those organizations will give or the dealer your buying it from. I here a lot of people paying $5000 and up over MSRP. Have you talked to anyone who actually paid that much over. Good luck with your decision.

If it isn't on the way, don't count on it being worth your time as the market is cooling.
To profit you need at least your OTD, then take out whatever your tax rate would be out of that profit.

November it may be different, but one of my price shopping places told me it is not viewed as a high demand vehicle on the used market, and there are tons of options once you get above MSRP. ( No reason to lie, I told him my dealer and Carvana had offered a lot more)

May go up, may go down, but a lot of time between now and when it is on the dealer lot to observe market conditions.
